Some of those look like domains others forgot to renew.
uuh oh.....
uuh oh.....
uuh oh.....
that must have been a long vacation. Take over 45 days before you can no longer renew your domain....
Nothing you can do, should have renewed it before vacation.
uhm, you do know you can register the domain right now?... someone had took it....
Domains are a tricky ethical situation. We're well past the first stampede, so those issues I'll not address. But at first blush, if someone lets one lapse, it's safe to assume they didn't want it, making it legit to buy it and use it, or, sell it for the traffic value.
The ethical tick is, if someone's interested and someone else holds it over their head in some manner. examples being things like a local sporting goods company is called "Dick's sporting goods" Well, the owner of www.dicks.com put... well take a guess....on the page and made some pretty crazy demands on price. Or lets say someone is working on a project and not really jumping on domains during it, and someone else buys them all up and basically demands blackmail prices to get them.
Sure it's legal.... but legal doesn't make it right.
I agree. The domain I sold make me a little cash. I would have let is go for much less money but they made me an offer. I took it and then they failed to build on the domain. It lapsed and once again, I own it. I look for neat sites to buy if they lapse, btu my ethics require that at least warn them of a pending lapse.
Some prices are flexible.wow! some seem awfully steep! But I guess that's what eh fair market price is..
(Thrustlineaero was a bit of a surprise!)

No one owns it.

I am reminded of a great SNL sketch from probably over a decade ago about a bank which got into online services a bit late. I think TRF rules prohibit me from using any of the language I'd have to use to describe the sketch, but it's so funny I still have trouble breathing if I see it today. If you know the sketch I'm talking about, you know why it's so funny, and why I can't name it here.
I'm lazy with renewing, so I set up autorenew for domains. I currently only own one, and haven't done anything with it yet, but I know I'm lazy and slow to build things, hence the autorenew.
OMG THIS HAUNTS ME TO THI! I work in pathology, and in the early 00's, I was going camping with my girlfriend (now wife, proposed on that trip!). Knowing that she's got a little bit of a Prima donna streak in her, I decided to go online and look up the cost for an air mattress that would fit in my tent. "Dick's is nearby!" said I, as I logged into a computer that is IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LAB with a monitor at eye-level when you're standing, clearly visible from all corners of the large space with 10 colleagues doing various tasks. dicks.com is what I typed, and this was back when pop-ups were new and EVERYWHERE. OMG, I wanted to die. Thousands of windows spawned, flashing and swirling, drawing the eye of absolutely everyone in the space. I'm frantically trying to closecloseclose, but ended up just turning off the monitor red-faced and mortified.
Can you give some clues? Sounds like something I don't want to miss!
