We have a winner!!!

Actually two versions of basically the same model. The Soyuz 19 (Apollo/Soyuz) and the current Soyus TM

Now for some dandy pics of the prototype model.

This pic is what I've based my model on.

Here is the prototype nose cone.

There will be two escape towers in the kit. The one in the pic shown is the Soyuz TM, (the tower currently used) with 4 escape motors., and the shorter version (used on the Apollo/Souz mission) with 8 escape motors.

Here is one of the booster sections with the mandrel I made for rolling them.

The cone shape is kinda tuff to do so I may...not sure yet...make them for you.

Here are the parts layed out next to a Big Bertha for scale.

The finished model is about 31.5" tall.

Here is the mostly completed prototype.

I still have to make some custom centering rings yet.

That would be great. I have a 13mm cardstock Soyuz and rolling the boosters was a real pain in the a**. ;)

How did this thread get to two pages before I even saw it. :p

Holy Smokes! Looking absolutely fantastic! Is this thing 18mm or 24?

24mm central motor...maybe...not sure yet...and one 18mm in each booster set at a 5.5 degree angle to the CG.

The basic rocket design seems firm and stable...it still needs flight tests.

The next obsticle is the details how much and how difficult to make it?

Wow, that looks to be a relatively complicated thing to build (from you perspective)...but it looks really nice. :)

Roachwerks will be doing the HARD part.

This will not be that difficult to build.

Looks like the beginnings of another nice kit from Roachwerk's...

BTW, Happy Turkey Day to everyone! May your breasts be plump and juicy...:D

Let see...

This thread is about 16 hours old and has grown to 3 pages...

So I guess there is some interest.:D

The development of this kit has been bouncing around in my head for several months now but I actually started it at 4:00A.M. one morning when I woke up with a bright 150watt light bulb over my head and had to jump on the computer and start doing some drawings.

Actually...that was last Thursday morning!

I've only been working on this for a week.

Man, this is so much fun!:D

Man, this came to a dead stop!:(

I have been swamped with custom orders...besides the family stuff for this weekend...oh yea...and shopping!

My wife is NUTS!

I'm still looking for more detail documentation for this...any help would be appreciated.

Looking for close up pics of the capsule and booster area.

Also details on the interstage trusswork...are they round, flat...???

Help!

Sandman,

I know you are looking for data on the the manned version, but this is a great resource on the commercial Soyuz.

https://www.starsem.com/index.html

Click on "Download the Soyuz User's Manual". This is a ~9 meg PDF file that contains lots of nice pics and drawings of the commercial Soyuz and the Soyuz ST versions.

Jason

thanks for posting the link!

one pic in particular shows the struts up close

In addition to the Starsem link, if you google "Soyuz User's Manual" you get a link to a Space Station User's Guide with a section on the Soyuz:

https://www.spaceref.com/iss/spacecraft/soyuz.tm.html

The above contains links to the 2 pages Styme posted. There appears to be more in that series of pictures. Styme, I hope I'm not stealing your thunder by posting these.

Here's the integration of the Soyuz spacecraft with the fairing:

https://www.spaceref.com/news/viewsr.html?pid=1360

Escape tower integration:

https://www.spaceref.com/news/viewsr.html?pid=2730

There are many more there!

Hope this helps,

Jason

WOW! COOL!

Thanks guys!

Those pics will keep me busy for a while!

Now one last question.

Soyuz 19 (Apollo/Soyuz mission) appears to be an all white rocket with just the section above the interstage struts orange right?

Also...the Apollo/Soyuz booster looks to have NO markings on it...is this right?

I plan on offering a few versions in each kit so I want these details right.

I'm mainly including Soyuz 19 (Apollo/Soyuz)for its significant historical value.

The final model is 1/64th scale and should look really good in a display next to a 1/70th Saturn 1B:D

Here is a copy of "some" of the decals that will be provided.

These are for some of the "cooler" missions.

I think there was one with "Pizza Hut" or Domino's Pizza" on it I'd like to find.

OK...I finally finished a backlog of nose cone orders...they all came at me at once!

So now, I can get back on this project.

Here are may working drawings that I made for the kit.

LOT & LOTS of details yet!

How complicated (ie. EXPENSIVE) do you guys want this thing.

I was thinking of 15 kits.

My vote is: Moderately complicated, more if the price is not too bad.......
