Regarding safety, lining up all your ducks makes sense.
All advice already given s great=start with a safe rocket, right launch rod, right engine, right wind conditions.
But especially with an untested rocket always better to launch in a very uncrowded location with minimum spectators, preferably experienced rocketeers who can watch you, catch your errors, and above all be alert to the "heads up" flight call by the safety officer and watching the WHOLE flight, ready to dodge if required. In a crowded place, highly likely an unfortunately significant percentage of people have their noses in their cell phones.
