Okay, I was trying out this formula for clustering chutes using the parameters used in the example and I keep coming up short. According to the text the formula is

ERL= Square root of number of chutes times the diameter of the chute. As an example, they used square root of 3 x 12 and ERL = 17.0 I get 6...what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your time

Never mind! I figured out where I went astray. Just needed to hit one more function key. It's all good and my world is no longer rocked.

what is confusing, is the answer given for the example is for two chutes...for three chutes ERL is roughly 20" :) (I worked it backward).

Now you're suppose to subtract the length of the shrouds, so if you have a 12 inch chute you subtract the shroud length 12 inches and it gives you a riser length of 8 3/4 and round to 9. :) Oh yeah, and the answer in the example, was for two chutes. I guess I had three on the brain.
