It's good that we have no launch scheduled here in Tucson. Peak winds today were 53 MPH!

Gary and I are heading out to the park. We tried last Saturday but there was a full football game in progress including refs, signs, and chalk lines. Mauka means toward the mountains, makai means toward the beach. When you live on an island, you're either facing the mountains, facing the beach, or looking parallel to them.

Welcome to April in Colorado!

We could see the grass this morning, now we have at least 3" of snow, tapering off and stopping tomorrow.
The temperature is 34F, and we are at 6440 feet in elevation, south of Denver.

Our weather is nuts to the extreme. 10 to 15 mph wind almost every day all year. Last week we had a couple of days with 25 to 40mp20240426_145900[4720].jpgh wind with stronger gusts. One day it would be 60 and 3 days later it would be 90. When I got up yesterday it was 48 degrees and pouring rain with a 31mph wind. The wind would go down to 25 and then up to 35, again with much stronger gusts. When the storm blew through there was a coat of new snow on the mountains down to about 7000'. The picture I posted on the post a picture thread is what it looks like. The 10 day forecast is for temps in the mid 80's with the same !@*&#^ wind 10 to 15mph wind. The wind is the talk of the town. Here is the way the mountains looked today.

We had absolutely beautiful weather today and at my grandson's baseball game it was a comfortable 73° , so now they're calling for 79° for tomorrow and some partly cloudy conditions

Our 10 day forecast is predicting highs from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. And once again winds from 15 to 25 the whole time. I have talked to many long time residents in the last couple of weeks and they all agree with me. The wind has never been this strong for months before. It's been like this in every 10 day forecast going back to the beginning of the year.

All the cloud seeding? Ginger Zee says "weather modification is happening right now" in 10 western states.
Hard to be a conspiracy when it's said on Good Morning America.

The d@@@ wind is still blowing 10 to 20 with no end in sight. When I got up yesterday the wind speed was 31mph and it stayed close to that all day. Saturday the forecast wind speed is 20 to 30 with gusts to 50. Every 10 forecast this year has been the same. My wife and I were talking about it. She found a web site that had wind speed records going back to 1989. The average wind speed for last March was 7mph and 8mph in April. This year the average wind speed in March was 17mph and 18mph for April. I've tried to find out why the wind is so strong but haven't found anything. It's making me crazy. I'll take the heat, the cold, the rain but I hate wind with a purple passion. You can't play golf in it. You can't fly in it and sometimes it's hard to even walk in it. It's destructive. Many many times this year I have been afraid we would lose some trees.

We are currently sheltered at home for a tornado warning. The rotation appears to track South of us, but there is also 2-3" hail in places.

We are all clear now with blue skies back. It looks like the rotating cell tracked a couple miles South of our neighborhood with a possible tornado touchdown and debris field a little under 10 miles away. The same cell keeps rotating through rural Western Ohio with more tornado warnings for those counties.

Luckily, all of the tornadoes and rotation split and went around us to the north and south. Cloudless and ugly outside...high around 80...currently 70 with 85% humidity...
