Cool. A picture of my Praying Mantis :)

I know, I took some minor liberties in posting a couple of pictures. As long as I didn't get a potential copyright notice and/or the pictures were already on a public rocketry site, I went ahead.

Will you be using an atomic clock to start your sales?

But seriously, thanks for doing this. Excellent setup for the sales. I have two rockets on my list, just not sure I should post which ones.... Regarding the "Trump card", If I post up 5 seconds behind the first responder and check the tread to see that, would I then post again with my trump to get the bid?

Woah, let me make it clear... posts to this thread do not count so better not to waste time--as referenced in sale overview, ONLY PMs TO MY INBOX WILL BE VALID. So in that sense you wont be able to see the "real" indications of interest. Trump useage could kinda be likened to an eBay maximum bid. Saying that, if people want to post to the thread to telegraph what they are doing and/or set up a bluff, clearly this is allowed (TRF general rules). Don't you just love game theory!!

But to answer your your original question, the highest, earliest PM wins and in the case of ties, the earliest submission wins. Again only one trump play per person.

So will there be prices or you bid on the kits , I'm in Lafayette.

Ok re read . So price out and then who ever bid highest wins

Ok re read . So price out and then who ever bid highest wins

Yes. Again prices are posted for each tranche then at 9pm EDT PMs are submitted indicating your interest in an item and if you want to optionally utilize your trump "kicker" up to 10% of price listed. Let's take an example:

PM #1 time stamped 9:02pm Tuesday evening says: "I'll take the Quest Nike Smoke."
PM #2 time stamped 9:03pm Tuesday evening says: "I'll take the Quest Nike Smoke and want to use my trump to pay an extra 5%."
PM #3 time stamped 9:45pm Tuesday evening says: "I'll take the Quest Nike Smoke and use my 10% trump option."

In the sequence above, PM #3 wins.

A couple of added clarifications:

1) If a trump level is not specified in the PM, it will be interpreted as the "full" trump of 10%.
2) If two equal submissions come in with the same time stamp, the one listed lower vertically in the Inbox will be deemed to come in first.
3) And finally, a rule extension... if a trump option is used in a tranche, but you are not declared a winner of that item when the tranche closes you will be credited back the trump option. For instance, in the example above the user that sent PM#2 which didn't win the Nike Smoke will be free to use his/her trump on any subsequent item in tranches #2 or #3.

I did get all the additional documentation gathered up and associated with each kit tonight. As I was going through everything I noted particular items on some of the high-power kits that should to be highlighted. As most high-power kits today do not include any recovery items, decals or detail pieces these upgrades and additions are noted for the kits below:

Praying Mantis
  1. Full-length (36”) motor mount for hybrid applications.
  2. Premium Rocketman R7C parachute.
  3. Added bulk and coupler plates to convert coupler to av-bay.
Sentinel
  1. 54mm MMT upgrade.
  2. Comes with Binder Avionics bay (retail ~$35)
  3. Chute included.
  4. Decals included.
ASP
  1. Extra scale details provided such as aluminum spin tabs and fore antenna (see attached).
  2. Chute included.
  3. Decals included.
Black Wolf Two-Stage
  1. Kevlar and Nomex recovery protection included.
  2. Decals included.
ASC-F-38
  1. Kevlar and Nomex recovery protection included.
  2. Decals included.

Honestly, you've got a bunch of things I'd be very interested in buying from you.. but you have made the entire process far too complicated. I know I'm not the only one thinking this. If I wanted to play the bidding game, I'd go to ebay where its been perfected.

When the herd thins out, please list what's left with a price you think is reasonable and we can go from there.

Good luck!

Jerome

Yes it is very confusing. Look for good deals , but could be wrong not looking to out bid someone else. Looking for some cool kits

It really doesn't matter. The sale is like most others, not the right time of month for me or anyone else that get paid once a month. In raohara's sale of Cobra motors I said basically the same thing. He PM'd me and said he'd hold out motors for me but I do not want to deny someone else getting there before me. Whatever he has leftover I can still use so I'll be waiting until payday and order up all I can, whatever the size.

And after seeing the list I know your sale isn't for me. I'm a scratch builder and the largest kit I ever built was a NCR Eliminator, pre-Estes.

I only like red rockets. I'm very offended you have not offered any red rockets for sale. If you could just go ahead and repaint everything red for me, that'd be awesome.

Why come into a thread titled "The Great KIT Liquidation Sale" and then complain it's all kits for sale? Is this sale different? Sure. Overly organized? Maybe. Who cares? I think it's fun.

It also says Sale and it's an auction of a weird sort. I look at ALL the ads hoping there might be something that tickles my fancy but...

I want to say how great I think this sale is. You are offering kits that rarely come up on the market, you have a little something for every possible taste, and you have structured it in such a way that one person with a lot of time on their hands and deep pockets can't come in and cull everything away before others even have a chance. It is clear that you put a lot of time and thought into this sale, and clearly the community is going to benefit from it. Thank you, and I look forward to taking my shot at a couple of gems!

Cheers,
Michael

David, Michael, thanks for the positive comments. Jerome, sorry it doesn't meet your needs, but yes, if there are some things left over, I will keep you in mind.

The sale is a bit different yes, but, not that much different. I have just provided a preview phase (that was requested by the way), set a start time and added a tool so if someone really loves a kit they have another degree of control beyond being a quick typist and having fast Internet connection. The tool also has a modest limit and is allocated (one winning purchase per person) just so it doesn't become an auction, but, instead, only gives more of a chance to all (as implied by Michael's comment above).

That makes sense and should add a little fun :)

Jason, that's OK, don't participate, your choice. A lot of people may appreciate that since you win so many sales here on TRF; I know you have purchased a lot from me. In fact, IIRC, my last auction with a "twist" you won two items so it didn't hurt you then. In any case, if I don't sell the items, no big deal. Thought it would just be better for others to enjoy them. If I don't get to building them, I'll just have more to pass on to my grandsons.

Saying that regardless, group #1 (Low-power) starts tonight at 9pm EDT.

Thinking now... Jason is so good at these sales, I may have just aided in his meta-move, i.e., poo-poo the game so others don't participate and then swoop in for the "kill." :kill:

Yep, knowing Jason, it is entirely possible that once Michael Douglas dies he could be cast as the next Gordon Gekko..

Hey, it's all in good fun! :w:

So how does one swipe a kit before it hits the open market? ;-)

Unfortunately (or fortunately) my father was a judge here in Indiana for nearly 40 years so in our house growing up bribery was a big no-no.

OK, (someone did ask) yes, all 21 rockets listed are in unbuilt kit form although some are not in the original packaging, and of those in original packaging, as mentionee before, many of those have been opened and resealed. So these kits aren't for collectors, they are for builders (and flyers).
