I would be willing to bet that WOOSH will be helping out a lot too, but we are not one of the hosting clubs. This will be interesting, Bong is only good up to a hundred vehicles (and that is with conservative set-up areas...)

Really? I was there in 2009 for NSL and it seemed like there were A LOT more than 100 vehicles there...well, that's the way it seemed.

QCRS will be a contributing club. From what I understand "TWA" is made up of a few clubs.

Yes we will have the runway for this event, if not the new and improved rocket launch site.
There is nothing to worry about guys.
Think positive

I wasn't thinking negatively, I was thinking realistically - this changes everything.

I just got off the phone with Frank and Tim, this is really exciting, I ensured both that WOOSH will assist in the success of LDRS 33. This is going to be a blast!

The real big thing here is having access to the runway and the new launch area with both areas Richard Bong Recreation Area will make a great location for this type of event.

I was involved in running NSL 2009 we had a great turnout with plenty of room for parking and vendors. Lets give Tripoli TWA a big hand on securing LDRS 33.

I have to think QCRS is one, but that still leaves two. Are you one of them Eric?

No sir. To the best of my knowledge, TWA is comprised of three Prefectures; QCRS is the fourth. We lost our high power field and therefore have shifted efforts more toward low-mid power in my area. I will be helping out with the event to the best of my abilities!

I'm uber excited about this one!!!

,This is pretty nutz! :y:

Wildman & Crazy Jim's club hosting an LDRS.......hmmmmm............... possibilities are endless. :eyeroll::surprised: :flyingpig::rofl::rofl::rofl: [not MY club....rather one I belong too..edit]

Now add in all the other nutz, hiding and chasing ducks for the last several months into the potion and ya got a whole lot of flying fun coming your way!
And we can't forget all the Chicago Rocket Mafia members.......a sure way to get any snafu's worked out. They make for a great complaint department. We never have any complaints....well more than once.LOL

The gear is good, the members really know what they are doing. [almost a dozen MWP's under our belts & 4 Thunderstrucks, and these aren't little launches] :dark::dark::dark:

All kidding aside, you have a great group of fliers with a ton of experience putting on LARGE size launches. All have been fantastically successful, with many satisfied repeat customers.

The venue is within 45-60 minutes of a 6 Flags amusement park, beaches, casino's and brewery tours in Milwaukee. Hotels close by and plenty camping right on site with full blown showers and restroom facilities. And some of the best cheese in the USA! [right Eric!]

I'm sure all the little bugs will be worked out by then, they always are, right guys. So know is the time to volunteer/offer help to make this one of the best LDRS's ever!

Anyone who has [volunteered]for MWP know what's coming, and that's a long hard road of organization & planning.

I'm in!

No more Americants only AmeriCANS wanted!

PS... how about a "where's the duck drag race"?

Man ya can float/hide them all over Bong.LOL
all entrants have to use a YELLOW duckie colored rocket, Tim's favorite!:shock::shock:

I think the Public Relations Rep just volunteered himself!

Cool. About 500 miles due East from my home in Nebraska. I just need go 22 miles north on US 81 to US 20 and turn right.
I need to start making plans for this one. :pop:

I don't know how many folks from T.H.O.R. will be attending but we have been known to volunteer a little here and there.

Try again, 3.9 mi distance, when I reference Richard Bong state recreational area it's address is Kansasville, WI.

BTW FAA gave us a waiver for WOOSH at 10,000' MSL that's aprox 9,300' AGL.

Awesome news... it'll be my second LDRS. Granted the flying field is not even close to Argonia level, it'll be great to have the event in the region. And I like to think it will be an opportunity to put some pressure on the politicians in charge of Bong to give us back a spot on the runway AND to make the promised improvements in parking, etc. Great job, Frank and TWA. Where's the volunteer sign up list? I'm in.

Wow, I go out of town to a no cellular area for a weekend and come home to this kind of news. While I have a lot of questions, I look forward to hearing what's fact and what's fiction over the next period of time. While its easy to speculate potential limitations, I'll throw my hat into the ring to help out. I look forward to meeting many of the people that I've learned from on this forum.

I did notice while Jim's post covered our great beer opportunities here, he missed out on the Bratwurst, and if your into German cuisine there are plenty of quality places for that as well.

I do hope we will impose some sort of penalty to those who wear cheese wedge hats. Believe it or not not all of us here wear them.

Welcome all to Wisconsin and look forward to a great LDRS 2014. For now i need to finish prepping and get fired up about ECOF next weekend at "the bong".

ABSO-FFRIGGIN-LOUTLY!!! I will contribute as well.

That was the runway... we don't have that luxury anymore :(

Again, for those who feel the need to complain about the location it's getting really old.......the new launch spot to the east of the runway spot will be ready for LDRS

Politicians understand numbers especially the ones associated with money...Good way to do that is keep track of the number of paid admissions to the park, estimate the number of folks staying in hotels/motels/campgrounds, estimate gas spent, food eaten and so on...Not a terribly hard task to figure out. I've run the exercise before and it isn't tough. You could realistically claim that you are bringing $300k (or whatever it comes out to) to the local economy.

"Hey Mr. Politician, my event brought $300k to the local economy for our little rocket event. How about you tell those DNR folk to let us launch from the runway?"

-Dave

I think I already know the answer, but for us right coasters that rely on Google,is it Kanasville or Kansasville???

Politicians only care on how much money it brings to them.
Happy businesses and happy constituents mean more votes - that is what politicians like. Financial gain and goodwill in the area does carry influence. We have enjoyed a few favors around the Argonia Rocket Pasture as a direct result of county leaders who "get it".

Congrats to the TWA folks for landing LDRS 33. I know there will be a legion of great folks from the upper Midwest getting ready for the big "time to shine" over the coming months. I'm looking forward to an LDRS again in the mid-section of the USA that I'm not in charge of. :p

Kansasville I believe...

Thanks Lance, that's exactly what I was hinting at...

Nobody here is complaining, we're just confused. There's a lot of information coming out here that nobody knew about, that's all.
