I got the email from Wildman announcing the 30% off CTI in 75mm - 150mm. Realized I had an N10,000 that he had not shipped yet. Suffered a moment of weakness and ordered a couple of other motors I've been wanting to fly - L1410 SkidMark and the M2150 Red Lightning.

All in all it was a good day!

Just finished the re-coned Baby Bertha. A D12-5 ought to make her scream. Bertha and Mr. Perseus, are going to air it out Sunday.

worked on a Rocketarium Mega rebel kit today.
I know i am a bit late for this post but hey i just found it.
not sure what i am going to do with the finish, i am thinking maybe an Evel Knievel theme.

Ordered mine today from Jon Rocket. I am wondering if staining the wood before building would be an issue. I am not into steampunk, but holy cow could you do things with this rocket. I will see about some dark red or purple stain.

Stain will inhibit the glue from bonding.

The way to do it would be to apply glue just as needed, with a Q-tip, or similar applicator. Allow any excess to dry, then chip it off with an X-Acto knife. Then, after it's built, stain it.

I guessed as much. and good call on the technique. I guess I can use wood glue again for a build
* sighs and shuffles feet *

Made a trip to Lowe's for some more hardware. Stopped by Hobby Lobby for some olive drab paint for my son's Honest John. Finished up the 5" DD Jart except for 3 vent holes and mounting drogue ejection charge holder. I played around with av bay sleds and discovered that I will have to engineer a different attachment method to slide in the electronics. I've been mucking around with making this rocket convertible back to a standard Jart that will hold a 54mm 6GXL CTI motor in it with electronics in the nose. All of the dirty work on that is done. I just need to take a couple of pictures and post them to another thread.

Typical read through the forms and drool over the Wildman 30% off 75 - 150 mm motors. No joy this time :(

Sand down to tight joints, apply tape to protect the frame, clamp and apply glue. Remove the tape before it dries too much. No scraping or chipping. You could drill small holes and pin things together to give more strength and keep things aligned.

Continued to struggle with the perfect metallic finish on my Binder Stealth and did the ~8th (hopefully last) fill on my Polecat Thumper 7.5" cluster.

Opened my package from Semroc and promptly realized I ordered the wrong type of tube. Back to the order page.

posted a bit on how to copy/paste parts from one rocket onto another rocket :).

I shed a tear when the mail carrier did not have a package for me :(

Last chance is tomorrow to get the motor I ordered for my L1 attempt.

Laid up another set of fillets on Misled Priorities, and fiberglassed the avionics bay sled.

Receive my Lev 2 Casing + reload . Pack my range tool and motor box, weight and update Open Rocket Files, Install Open Rocket and copy files in a laptop and a note book, copy files on my Galaxy Note II , I'm near ready for Saturday Certification 1 and 2

Got my Level 1 card from TRA and new Club ID for URRG. Thanks to those who sent them out, Great end to a bad day :) :)

Later gonna do a little more work with the little guy on the rocket he's building.

Finished all work on the 5" Jart and ground tested the drogue. I'll test the main tomorrow night. Spent some quality time with my son working on his Madcow Honest John. We foamed the fincan. That was not only entertaining, but resulted in some well-bonded fins. This was my first two-part foam experience, and I will be repeating it in the future.

My ejection canister worked splendidly. Now to wrap up the laundry situation tomorrow night, ground test the upper, and pack for the THOR launch. Conditions may be a bit on the windy side for LPR, but the big ones will be flying.

It is actually a horrible purple, but pics with flash make it look blue.

Why is it not Saturday morning yet?

also..

She is ready to fly her Big Daddy and figures she should finish the giraffe build as well. Not at the THOR launch, but it is warm enough for her to stand in a field now. It will be awesome.

DAT GLARE :)
