What are the best things you have got from The Rocketry Forum? For me it was learning about Bondo Spot putty, finding a great (semi) local club, and maybe most importantly is to see what is possible with a little bit of imagination and skill. The build threads are amazing. People seem always ready to give advice and really want others to succeed . Just a great bunch of people.

Learning about reloadable motors, Cesaroni, big cans of epoxy, and learning that a multistage K rocket is not a good idea with zero high power experience.

What's not? People have been so helpful, I've learned a host of new tricks, you can share your ideas with others and get feedback (cause if I ask my wife, I get a blank stare or roll of the eyes!), learn about new products people are developing, keep in contact with people of your own prefect, read humorous posts about multistage K rockets, what else... It's a great forum and I enjoy it.
-My name is Ken and I approve of this message.

Golly, there's a lot. Finishing ideas come to mind first. Using epoxy for mid builds, keeping tabs on events....One of the things I enjoy is the humor brought in here. I get a kick out of abusing the watering hole.

My wonderful and supportive wife nonetheless tells me of my hobbies: Blog about it with someone who cares.

The people here care about the hobby and each other. That's what's best, to me.

Peace

Marc

There was _____________ but it got closed.

And there was _____________ but he got banned.

Also that _____________ but I don't remember now.

Memories of 1970's rocketry.

This Shrox person seems a bit full of him/herself.

As far as TRF; everything. Dixon's builds, Troj's levelheadedness, BB's wackyness (now tempered evidently), CJ's excellent tutorials, For Sale, Vendors... What a great resource. I've learned lots here.

Well, anyone who is geeky enough to join this forum has to be a little bit wacky...

Yeah, I mean, what do you expect when in google chrome, when I enter in the letter R, and this pops up:

Who else would I be full of? Other than Jesus of course. I've been told I have too much Captain Kirk in me...

Being able to tap into others experience so that I learn from the mistakes that others have made. This also allows me to make my own special mistakes!!

I'll second Salvage-1's experience. It's always good to see others mistakes and learn from them.
You who have admitted them should be commended....and you are keeping to the laws of Learning.
A lot of forum members have stepped forward because of the info on this forum.

And BB..don't worry, you are already a legend and we will watch your level III flight in coming years..(Don't you dare burn out during your dating years..just date the cute nerd girls..;))\

OK, for me it is the nice, funny smart people here. No one I know locally is interested in rockets. I have had to give up driving as my condition continues, so I really can't go to launches anymore. If you all came out for a Lost Coast launch, that would be fun...

Yup, if any of them nasty gurlies tell you that you must be compensating for something.... Just tell them that its not as much about girth and materials but thrust!! and that we get to do all sorts of experimental stuff!

Hmm-I'm gonna have to do a DNA test to find whom I'm full of. All the cool guys I know are using theirs. What was the question???

After 20 years of nearly being out of rocketry TRF has been a big part of getting me rebooted and up to date. Not to mention all the wonderful crazed rocket maniacs that hang out here. NASA should hire this crew en masse.

Agreed!

Matt, you've come a long way, and we all hope it's only just the beginning.

Yeah, I was doing a Google Plus hangout with Aks last night, and I was talking with him about my Fat Boy (complete with flowerpot nose cone), my K805 2 stager, and all that fun stuff. Something tells me you are right, troj...

What's best? Community, these folks really care about each other. Whether it's a problem with a rocket or a serious real world issue the community is here to support you.

I like the people that are here. I made a lot of friends and everyone here is very helpful and willing to go out of their way for you. I can't say enough nice things TRF. Great forum and great people. The MODS also do a great job keeping everything well maintained and keeping the peace.

There are a lot of folks on TRF who "get" the whole rocketry vibe, which is no great surprise. There are a LOT of folks on TRF that I wouldn't mind sharing an adult beverage (or two) at a backyard grill (is rocket-gating a word?).

But in addition to that, the attitude of most is a willingness to help. I don't feel like I'm competing against folks. And wouldn't that get old real fast if that were the case.

When I have questions, my posts range from the rocketry-related and beyond. That's because most experienced rocket folks will think systemically to a certain degree, looking at the big picture, and can usually come up with a thoughtful solution. And if you are not a systematic thinker yet, you will likely become one over time if you stay with it.

Our hobby is small compared to R/C, trains, and AFAIK even doll houses. We are a field mouse in the midst of titans. So it's good to know that there is place that you can go to get answers related to rocketry. And beyond.
