Got it, should have noticed that. The paint scheme is reversed, that's all. Well, I did put a payload section in it, but the same otherwise.

I had intended to do that myself but after the second box the only online option I got was to return them and get a refund. May you have better luck.My replacements are supposed to arrive tomorrow, but I'm going to be surprised if they're not Wizards again. I plan on re-ordering and/or scheduling returns/replacements util they get it right. You'd think enough returns on a particular item would trigger some sort of action to try to figure out what's wrong, but maybe not.
I like to take a couple spare kits as well -- a gust landed one out of bounds / on a roof / in a tree ? Here you go kid, replacement kit.I did two school workshops with the Generic E2X before Christmas. Its a nice little kit, much tougher than the Wizard. Great for A8 and B6 motors, but quite a few lost rockets on C6. My advice is to chuck away the parachutes and put in an 18x2 plastic streamer. Also take some superglue to the launch as kids didn’t always add enough glue to the motor mount - a few fell out!

I sometimes fly my crayon at schools for a bit of fun. Its popular with the kids.Yeah, I agree. I wish they would bring back the Crayon Rockets... We only have 1 at this point... it's fun to fly on the Quest C18 motors.
Picked up one of these years ago on clearance for a couple bucks and decided to build it specifically to fly on the old D21-7 (needed nose weight). I'm not sure where they all came from but I've acquired a ton of those motors over the years.
I hit the button and the rocket disappeared. I saw a pop in the sky and the streamer was fluttering in the AZ sun. Lost it after a few seconds and couldn't find it again. Simulation said 1800ft and I have no doubt it made it up there.
Maybe I'll do that again but have more eyes on the ground this time.
I sim'ed the D20-8. You're looking at 65.2mph off the rod, 1522ft apogee, 451 mph max velocity and 41.1 G's.
It turns out I have very little real-world data on Generic E2Xs. I’ve put together three of them and according to my logbooks each has only flown once. The one datum I have is 395 feet on an Estes B6-4 in May of 2017 (data by way of a PerfectFlite FireFly).Remember that higher thrust means faster flight which means higher drag. I would really be surprised to get 1500 feet out of a D20 in this model. And whatever it would be, it would be less than you’d get out of a D16 and FAR less than full D motors like the D10 and D21.
I’ll have to go back through my logs to see if I have any real world numbers on Generic E2Xs. I’m pretty sure I do.

So I got my amazon order today. I ordered 3 bulk kits of the Generic E2X rockets to prep for this spring with the cub scouts. Note: I went to the product page, selected a quantity of 3, and hit order one time. Here is what showed up:

As much as I want to blame Amazon for this, take a look at the UPC bar code that Estes has printed on each box:

Item #1764 is the Generic E2X and item #1754 is the Wizard, but the two have the IDENTICAL bar code. So it seems that this probably has roots with Estes and this confusing re-use of the product UPC.
Definitely a return - that should have been sold as a Warehouse deal. Maybe someone restocked it in the wrong bin?On an unrelated tangent, this sticker was on one of the boxes of Wizard kits:

What the heck is that all about? Was this a return and then they shipped it to me? Usually, there is a disclaimer and discount if they're gonna ship you a refurbished, returned, or open-box type item. Oh well, it's going back regardless.
Good catch. I guess this means even if you order from the Walmart link I posted, you might get the wrong box.You guys are gonna love this one...

It's Estes's fault, not Amazons.Perhaps Amazon should invest in some Computers, they can eliminate these kinds of problems.

Even if Amazon did "invest in some computers", those computers would be using the UPC bar code on the boxes, and the Wizard bulk pack has the same UPC barcode on the box as the E2X bulk pack.
While I got the correct item when I ordered from Walmart, that the bar code is wrong on the Estes boxes means that anyone stocking these and using the bar code on the box to identify them will start sending Wizards instead of Generics when they run out of their current stock. So I expect that Walmart will start sending out the wrong ones when/if they restock, unless Estes fixes this before they ship more to whoever it is. Merchants that know rockets won’t be confused but mass marketers are something else entirely.Yes, but the Computers could catch on after it happened 20 or 30 times. This only happens with orders through Amazon according to everyone here. To be fair, Amazon fans like making excuses for them so they have no reason to improve.
I get disposable scalpels for this work, and I make the adults handle them. That reminds me, I need a dozen small glue bottles. To all of you that got your Generics and plan to do a group build with them, a quick note:
I’m making the two knife cuts beforehand, to eliminate the need for a knife at the group build. One of the cuts is popping out the plastic in the nose cone eyelet. Usually that’s easy, right? Score it and it pops out. But most of the cones I got in this kit have an excess build-up of plastic where it should be thin. See the first pic, there’s a pool of plastic at the base. This has led to a difficult cut where I sometimes took a chunk out of the nose cone (second pic). I imagine this could get pretty hard for some of your kids and a little dangerous. Just wanted you to be aware if you planned on having them make the cut - you should check the nose cone first.
