Went birding in the Crow Family campgrounds in Northern Colorado. Too many birds to list!
Did you know that the Lark Bunting is the Colorado state bird? Saw several of them yesterday. New bird for me!

Day 42.

Six weeks, at 9:44am PDT on April 19th I died. Well that Jeff did. That will be my message again in 7 more days. Instead as usual I simply tried to sleep PAST that time. Every GD Wednesday.

Today I decided I WOULD go to the US Social Security Office and apply for Survivor benefits. No more screwing around. I already saw her deposit had not come. So I knew they had been informed. I waited 90 minutes, got called to an office, was told to go back and wait, 90 minutes later I got called to another office and was told due to my salary, I would get NOTHING. While that lovely lady was next to me, she got her SSI. No matter my means. The moment she left, I make too much for her benefit. $255 dollars. THAT IS WHAT THEY’LL SEND ME. A beautiful lifetime. Reduced to a one time payment of 255 dollars. I don’t blame the government. They have to deal with 360+ million lives. It is just me. Of course I cried my ass off.

I went to the store and gathered up my first set of ingredients for my first Insta-pot meal.

Other than that? I just sat here and felt sorry for myself. However I also felt sorry for her. We had plans.

Penny, my 19 year old kitty is hiding under the bed. I know what is coming. She is getting unsteady on her feet. Days? Weeks? No way I am leaving her alone. If I am around next year, the stars will be there as well. The Golden State Star Party can wait. Besides, I am just not feelin' it.

I took 13 cats to the Spay and Neuter clinic in Vegas. A very vocal group this morning. On the way home, silence. Since I had 6 hours to kill I played 9 holes of golf at a Par 3 course in Vegas. It's right across the street from the Airport. I was standing on a tee box when I heard high performance engines. Looked up and saw one then another EuroFighter Typhon. Why they were at the Airport and not Nellis I don't know. About 10 minutes later an Army Guardrail went over. It's an Intel aircraft. I think the base aircraft is a King Air. Still had some time to kill so I went to Bass Pro Shop to look around. Hung out in the attached Casino for an hour. Played silly 1 cent games. Still lost $40. Can't win if you don't play. Watched You Tube videos from Ukraine and ate vanilla salt water taffy. A weakness of mine.

Whoa. A Bass Pro with an attached Casino. That’s an expensive combo!

Met my daughter's family for Mexican dinner and then went to Lowe's and bought a small can of stain to use on the cabinets where I've run into them with my power chair. They sent us some notice that the owner was having the condo appraised which is not a good thing, but they told us that he is not going to sell it. i believe that's what they would always tell everybody. The only other reason to have it appraised is if you are contesting the tax assessment.

Drove almost 3 hours to count a Dollar General in Blairsville, GA. Over three hours back to Covington. Got home after 19:00. Wanted to spray some paint on the DBRM, but not gonna happen today.

Day 43,

A Thursday. Eight weeks ago I heard my lovely wife's last words. I won't repeat them. They are in my previous posts and I are not "I love you".
Grieve. That is pretty much it. Walk to 7/11 to get some coffee. Grieve on the way back.

Pulled 30 more women's tops off a rack to donate... again the grief.

Put together an electric bike. Bought for free with all the Kohls cash I have from returning clothes she never got to wear. Man I was shaky. It's a cheapy. I keep the battery outside when charging or not. My first outing was just me pedaling. Still I can say, "It's like riding a bike." But I need to practice (and yes, I have a helmet.)

Cataloged all the spices I have (She has) so I can make sure I don't waste money on those I don't need.

What else? Nothing. Just another day in anti-paradise. Holy carp I miss her.

Tested out QuickBooks Online now that the Desktop version is past any and all support. I tried the Simple Start and Core Payroll option.

No custom field on invoices or sales receipts. Annoying, but I can put the PO number in the message field for invoices and likely can do without the transaction count on sales receipts (I pool all the register/Square transactions into one one QB entry per day.

More annoying that sales receipts and invoices share the same auto number pool.

The possible show stopper so far is the lack of sales by item detail reports. I send those to my own-made data system that generates the state and federal operations and excise tax reports I have to file. The provided summary might work, but I’d lose the retail/wholesale distinction that I use in sales tracking and production forecasting. That might be the game changer. I have to find out if the higher offered levels can do that report, and if I think $55/month extra is worth it. Or if I use a different service for payroll entirely and go back to Desktop for as long as I can keep it running. Or see what the accountant actually needs and right my own invoicing/receipt system.

My baby Penelope Pie is 19 years old and getting pretty unstead. Still she is 'going' which means she has not given up. ❤️
I know where this is going. We (my late wife and I) have had 14 kitties over 27 years.

When the day comes, and the time is right, after Penny, whenever that is, I will adopt a bonded pair. Not kittens. But a pair. Too many wonderful kitties need furever homes. And my Kim would want me to make sure that happens.

The only trip we took to vegas I really like video blackjack. Seemed to me if you kept your wits about you, and did not get greedy, you could make a few bucks.

I just had a 1 hour long talk with my son after he got upset with my wife and hung up on her 3 weeks ago, and we had not talked since. I now know that his spouse is the source of 90% of his problems as she is not quite all there, and has brainwashed him a long the way. But we all know how many times that has happened before in life. Too darned much drama.:barf:

I've been building a folding camping table for my daughter and put the finishing touches on it today. We couldn't find one that was the right height to set next to her folding camping chair so I built one, based on designs I had seen on the internet. All of the pieces except for some wood dowels and a couple of pieces of thin plywood were cut from one piece of common pine 2x4 framing lumber. The horizontal frame is essentially 1x2, the legs I cut a bit thicker at 7/8". The slats on the top of 1/2" x 1.5". The top measures 14" x 16", with height of almost 18". It has a couple of coats of poly on it.

It just comes on. One minute I am fine, the next I just want to curl up and shutdown. It's one minute "la dee da". And the next "why bother?"
That reads like a hopeful sign of - I don't know the right word that wouldn't sound insensitive or condescending, but you know what I mean. I'm glad there are even some "la dee da" minutes, 'cause it seemed that there were not a couple of weeks ago. Honestly, I was just beginning to be a little concerned about you, and now it seems clearer that I don't need to be.

Hang in there.

Went to the ABC store for Rum and Gin. just the cheap stuff. Then dropped off the 2 tires to be mounted on the 2 wheels that are going on the rear of the power chair, at the motorcycle shop.

Just pumped out another pint of B positive for the local blood bank. Per the doctrine of signatures, my post-donation juice is cranberry.

It is good to see that most blood types are in better supply than they were late last year.

Or a competing product?

Yes. But the review I did when the forced migration was announced wasn't hopeful. Desktop is apparently a deprecated dinosaur.

BUT...
I did figure out where more reports were stashed - and while not very customizable at the cheapskate level (pardon me - Simple Starter) - I was able to get very close to my original workflow. I updated my VBA import code to work with the subtle difference in the new 'Export to Excel' file function. And have gotten the Quickbooks-to-Compliance/Reporting system step done. Hurray.

Or if you want to use it as collateral for a new loan. Newer appraisal means a higher value documented and owner might be able to borrow more. Could just be that.

I re-arranged the hall closet so that my extra power chair batteries would fit in the bottom along with the charger, so that I can keep them at full charge while being stored. My original batteries are 6 years old and still show no signs of degradation.
