A friend picked me up and he drove me 20 miles to a famous hot dog place, then we went to a cigar store where they will roll you a custom cigar, only to find out they were closed. Sign on the front said open 6 days 9-5, not today though 🤬

I just read that the day I took those beach pictures, there was a drowning that occurred just off that beach a few hours before we arrived. There was a downwind paddling race which began on that beach and was supposed to end a bit North of where we were. The waves were about 7', all of the entrants were vetted with experience in these conditions with watercraft designed for it. The water was cold, probably 60 degrees or a little cooler. According to reports, the man who drowned was a professional paddler and experienced with water rescue. He was wearing a wetsuit and life jacket, but it sounds liked he succumbed to hypothermia.

I've been in colder water in these lakes myself and waves like this when I was a lifeguard, but not both together and I definitely don't have the paddling experience to even think about going out in those conditions. The great lakes are a wonder of the world, but still can be quite dangerous.

Sat on couch and tried to make box joints using blind material. Nope, can't hold it well enough to get precision enough to make tight joints. Fortunately, I've got more tools to try out. I'll cut off the ends and try again. Practice, practice...

Was that on Michigan or Erie? From your displayed location, "NE Indiana", it could be either one.

Woke up at two in the morning, no chance of getting back to sleep. Sat on the couch and watched a couple of documentries while sharpening paring knives. I had the sharpening kit out already to sharpen chisles for my "box" project. I can now shave with any of them (but I won't). Did some rocket stuff - see other thread...

Those were from Point Betsie on Lake Michigan about 2/3 to the top of the mitten near Traverse City. We do go to beaches on Erie and Michigan regularly, either one is easy to get to from Fort Wayne.

awesome, we need to see a picture of the finished space, nice color choice.
Thanks. This will be a slow project over the winter, but will do. Yesterday I got the first 2 racks of rocket wall mounts up and added the first above-workbench shelf. I'll put soldering irons, power supplies, chargers, etc on the shelves.

I managed to catch a bug & started feeling crummy last night, so my work on it is stopped for a bit while I lay around on the couch.

I've always been a garage junkie up until 2 months ago, now I can't afford renting the car garage at the condos. Everything got sold and downsized into my stereo room.
hope you get feeling better quickly.

Thanks, I appreciate that. A combo stereo/rocket room sounds great too, even if it's not as much room as having an extra garage space. At least the tunes are great!

yep, I'm in a 13x14 bedroom with 9 speakers and a 18" Stereo Integrity subwoofer. As long as I have my big tanker desk, I'm good.

Blew well over an hour last night fixing my wife's work laptop :( . Office wouldn't open without crashing. Three rounds of updating (using the virus known as Windows Update) and then a repair on Office fixed the problem. One update was the large 21H2 update which took ages to install.

I take it the 18" sub doesn't have much trouble filling the room with sound.....
It will move 3 inches peak-to-peak travel, and I've never seen it move more than 1/2";) And naturally there is 50% of the bass in the middle of the room. Go out in the hallway and that's where all the bass is.

Went to the dentist today to find out if we could see what was causing the massive erosion of my upper teeth and did some x-rays and got a estimate of $3,000 to correct the problems. So this was the only thing that has got me to quit drinking cokes in 60 years. With my crappy Medicare insurance there is no dental involved so we're not going to be able to do anything about it. Learn to live with it and try to prevent it from getting worse. :(

I had a doctors appointment with pain management about the pain in my neck. They want an MRI. Already had X-Ray. I don't remember if I mentioned this. I'm having rotator cuff surgery later this month. What can I expect for recovery. I also got a haircut. Every time I get a hair cut now I have them take an inch off, that's once a month. I think how I obsessed over getting a hair cut that didn't look like I had a hair cut in high school with every hair in place. I look at my senior yearbook now and laugh. Boy was I dumb. I also went to the Casino to kill some time between appointments. Cost me $40 to hang around. After that it was the grocery store. We were almost out of ice cream. And that can never happen. I goy 4 half gallons and some novelties. Whew. I came home and painted a frame I made for work. That's four of them. Kinda cool to see my handy work hanging on the wall. Probably be there longer than I will.

I went to the foot dr. as it's time to get the annual pair of new shoes, and she asked how old my ankle/foot braces were (9), so they give new ones out every 5. I didn't know that.

Yesterday was fun; tornado outbreak (all small) here in SE WI. In the middle of October. One was north of our house, another to the south (we're in the larger upper gap)

Headed to west coast of Florida for the GF’s birthday weekend celebration with another couple. Supposedly the place is still standing… 🤷🏼‍♂️
