ASP Wac Corporal with Tiny Tim booster is gap staged with vent holes as well.

It is a pretty well know technique. It allows the cold air between the booster motor and the sustainer motor to vent as the booster burns through, hopefully allowing the hot gases to ignite the sustainer. Without the venting, the pressure wave built up by the cold gasses getting compressed by the hot ones, pops off the booster too soon. At least that I my understanding
