I prefer to be asleep. My drug of choice is propofol (IV). It acts very quickly and recovery is also fairly quick with minimal drowsiness. So far I've never had any postprocedural nausea or vomiting.I had my first colonoscopy with just a tranquilizer, and maybe there was a muscle relaxant. I was surprised to get a general for the second one. I'm due for round three next year, and I'll stay awake of they give me the choice.
