I do/did know of Pele during his time as a player. I was lucky enough to be raised in a "football" family, which was actually pretty unusual in 1970's America. Saw Pele play with the New York Cosmos, which also included such stellar players (and other "all time greats") such as Franz Beckenbauer, Girogio Chinaglia, Clyde Best, Shep Messing, Werner Roth, and Carlos Alberto (Torres). And yeah, he really was "that good'. Golden days for sure.
