What width shock cords do you use for standard rocket diameters? (1.5, 2.26, 3,4, 8, etc? )

Kevlar, or Nylon?

Not trying to ask which is best per say, I just want to know what you personally spec out.

Thanks!

I use 1/4" kevlar on almost anything 2" and up. Length is anywhere from 25'-40' depending on rocket weight. I often use a heavier Y-harness down in the tube by the charge.

all fiberglass projects
1.5 1/8in kevlar 750lb
54mm and 2.6 1/8in kevlar 750lb [this stuff actually has some stretch to it]
3in . compact size like punisher [head end deploy] 1/4 in kevlar.

3in standard DD with payload 9/16 TN 1500lb
4in all sizes, kevlar strap Y harness in fincan [cordage 9/16 1500lb TN]
5.5 6 and 7.5 Kev Y harness 1in 4000lb TN

12in 4000lb 1n TN

Varies by weight not diameter usually, I have 4" rockets that have 1/8" diameter recovery harnesses and 4" ones that have 1/4" harnesses a 60lb 7.5" that uses two OBH 7/16" custom kevlar harnesses. All specifications are typically based on either 50g or 100g max "unexpected" events.....

I use the LAR method coupled with what I have on hand.

“Well, that LOOKS ABOUT RIGHT.”

When all else fails I order from Teddy at One Bad Hawk.
