Looking good man!!! I've got one of the NCR by Estes versions of these and it's a fun flyer for sure! Looks like Matt made some improvements to this one! I wish I had though to do TTW for the top set of fins!!! And especially after seeing Matt's service ill have to pick up one of the new archers, I lost my old Estes NCR archer to a tree :(

Got some more work done.

I installed fins on both lower and upper sections and filleted with Titebond Moulding and Trim.

I then epoxied fins internally to both cage an inside of body tube.

I also slid a piece of silicone fuel tubing over the steel recovery cable and finished the end w/ heat shrink.

Here is a pic of the whole rocket, rough assembled, my cat Boris is in charge of QC as you can see :

I still need to epoxy the aft CR in place and do one more layer of fillets on the fins.

Cheers for now!!

Looking very good Marc ! The cat seems to approve LOL

I got my kit over the weekend and I`m very impressed of the quality of the parts and the color instructions are top notch !

Pix of the Aft CR epoxied in place and the Estes 29mm retainer.

I used JB Weld for the retainer:

Paul,

I agree. This rocket has been a thoroughly enjoyable build. Each step makes me like it more and more.

Come spring, I can't wait to fly it!!!

Wow,

I looked at my start date for this thread...this one really got away from me.

However, I finally got some paint on it. 4 coats of Krylon primer and 3 coats of Krylon gloss white.

I will let this cure for a few days and apply the decals.

looks really good I have one that was given to me to build when estes started to release them luckily I found the 28 mm motor mount before I glued it in. it was a beta test from matt steele through Discount rocketry when kevin funk owned it. they are great fliers :handshake:

Oh my ,that turned out very nice ,I do like it very much !!

Great build chum !

I should start mine soon.

How were the decals to apply and their quality ,as they are the sticker type are they not?

Take care

THX Paul!!

Decals are peel and stick of very good quality and pretty easy to apply with soapy water.

Cut close to the image as the corners tend to stick up a bit if not trimmed properly. They do burnish nicely.

Clear coat (I use Krylon Indoor/Outdoor) sets up nice over them.

Can't wait to see yours as I know it will be a Masterpiece!!

Cheers!
