So far it's WAY too heavy on the Cleon clone emperors.
Interestingly, in most of the commentary I've seen on-line, the Cleon storyline seems to be the most well-received. To be sure, Lee Pace is great. I found it tiresome at first but it got better and by the end of the season it really hit a high point.

Yes, the whole show is broadly based on the Foundation concepts but the story is highly modified. I enjoyed the whole season enough to keep watching.

I'm still watching, so whatever they are doing it's working, so far.

The emperor/empire were such a small part of the books that it seems kind of out of place to me.

I guess I should not have re read all the Foundation books prior to watching.

Again, it's not necessarily bad that it is not Asimov's Foundation. After all Foundation was written from the
'40s to the '80s and Asimov's stories themselves changed a lot as they evolved.

The TV series is very high quality, well acted, but sometimes the writing seems to be failing the show.
Not "Space 1999" failing, more like "Lost" failing. If that makes any sense.

I'm just kinda disturbed seeing Salvor Hardin advocating violence.

Maybe the zeroth law?

Dermizal's statements were cryptic enough.

Yes, Very un Foundation like.

Hari Seldon advocating violence is even more disturbing.
