Hey all!

Im going to be igniting my model rockets igniters using a relay connected to an arduino. I wanted to check whether i could use an LED to test for continuity when the clips connect to the igniter. How can i go about this using a relay and an arduino?

Have the LED on the NC side of the relay, and use the NO side for ignition.

As above. Make sure you use a series resistor with the LED to limit the current through the igniter to, say, 10-15 mA, or less if you’re using a high efficiency LED.

Alternatively, you could use a resistive divider on the lower side of the output to sense continuity and read by an Arduino analog input. Using this method you can also check the quality of the continuity.

An Arduino to fire an igniter? More info is needed.

1) What brand and style of igniter?
2) What is the power source?
3) And what kind of model rocket needs an Arduino to start an igniter?
