A few years back I built a Maxus 1b card model and did a build thread on the old TRF. For those of you that might not have been on the forums at that time (2005), I am providing a link to that thread here:

http://www.rocketryforumarchive.com/showthread.php?t=17928

The link to the model in the archive thread is no longer active, but I found the model at the following link:

http://www.arar.it/carta/Maxus.pdf

The model is just the right size and weight for an E9-6 and that is my preferred motor for this model.

I'll second the motion. It's probably my favorite model.

I built mine right after Bob built his.

It isn't too hard to build. Just start from the bottom and work up (lesson learned). With 2 transitions and a tail skirt you should eyeball it as you go to keep everything straight.

It flies like an arrow.

BTW Maxus 8 was just launched about a week ago. All the Maxus vehicles I've seen have fins.

Thanks for the news on Maxus 8. I just found a couple of YouTube videos on it, one of the launch and another on the preparations (that video's in Swedish).

The model does have 4 fins. They were very easy to align because they nestle into the angle between the BT and the tail skirt, plus the BT has alignment markings.

The Maxus uses a single Thiokol Castor IVB motor. The Swedes launch it straight up as a sounding rocket and it reaches about 700 Km as I recall. The Swedes do use Thrust vector control (TVC) on the single nozzle. It is contained in the aft skirt.

Bob,

Your Maxus link seems to get to the PDF, but does not upload the entire file completely and tends to lock-up Adobe PDF
