I plan to put my first rocket quite high (5,000ft) and have been completely unsuccessful in finding launch sites ideal for this. I live north west of phila in the burbs and am a pilot so i have even scouted from the air without luck. I've even called para250 (local club) and they said they can't help me. Does anyone in the tri state area have a good field? I will travel if need be. Please help me! L

Check out Maryland Delaware Rocketry Association (MDRA). The have a standing waiver of 16,900 ft AGL and will hold their Red Glare meet sometime soon. They also have monthly launches. Their web site is:

https://www.mdrocketry.org/

Good luck.

This is probably closest:

https://www.mdrocketry.org/

These folks are a little further away:

https://www.pyro.ws/index.php

Search these sites for more clubs:

www.nar.org
www.tripoli.org

Hope that helps.

Most of the MDRA fields are privately owned. Please speak with an MDRA BOD member for accurate info. There is a link off their website for mail.

I think your best bet is to come fly with us at MDRA ( mdrocketry.com ) Not sure what field you are referring to when you say Coverdale launch field. We launch at Central Sod Farm in Centerville, MD and Higgs Dairy Farm in Price, MD. The fields we use are privately owned and only available during scheduled launch days. Your best bet is to come out to Price for Red Glare(November) if your looking to go high. Launching is more fun with a group anyway!

If you go to Red Glare and are going to stay a couple of days check out the Sleep Inn hotel. Let them know your with the rocket group and they discount the room. If I remember they drop it down to about $75.00 a night.

The Coverdale, field is in Delaware ( https://www.mdrocketry.org/Launches/Coverdale.html ). Joe May was the liaison to the property owner. I haven't been there in 3-4 years. It was a corn or bean field if memory serves me right.....

The best field I've been to out of the four would be the Rhodesdale site.
It hasn't been used in a couple years now ( even better than Price)
