Why would anybody want to locate the tether cord right next to the 'fire' in the first place? Kind of makes you wonder if they like to complain about roasted/severed anchor lines?

I experimented with a strange product called "Kevlar Elastic" this past weekend. It appears to be an elastic band (maybe just the rubber portion of elastic) inside a piece of braided tubular kevlar. It has all the elasticity of standard flat elastic, with all the heat flash resistance of kevlar. Specifically, I used it in a rocket with a very large amount of noseweight that I didn't want to have jerk against a non-stretchy 120-lb kevlar shock cord.
It worked beautifully - no scorches, and no signs of damage to the motor mount, the cord, or the nosecone connection.
