My attempt at an R/C glidable Hound Dog missile. Lots of concessions to scale accuracy for glide, CG, landing strength, simplicity and light weight but I think it will capture the essence. BT-80 based and uses 6mm and 9mm depron for structure.

Overall length is 42 in, 2.6 in diameter, 20 inch wingspan, Weight is looking like it should be well under 12 oz ready to fly and I'll use the preferred E-6 in the main body tube.

I'm just waiting on another shipment of tubes to finish construction. Here are pics of the simple openrocket model I used for mass balancing and equpiment placement, weight and wing placement and to optimize cg without needing nose weight. Rail buttons, battery, receiver, servos, servo extensions, and glue are all modelled here. the curved portion in the turbojet pod should be on the bottom, it is there just for weight, I can't figure out how to add that to a tube fin, but no biggy.

Maiden went perfect just bit of pitch trim on boost and a little bit of roll trim on glide got just under a minute of glide time each time very stable and very soft landings no problem landing on that Big turbo jet pot underneath I was very surprised.

I also made a bt-60 version flyable with 18mm D 2.3 motors. 29.5 inches long, 6 Oz ready to fly, 13" wingspan. Same type of construction as the bigger version. I used .03 styrene for the canard and just slipped it completely through the nose after I slotted it with a dremel. I reduced the size of the canards a little bit to help relax CG. I needed to put the receiver and the battery in the middle of the model so I had to cut a hatch so I put a little red outline on it to make it look like an access panel.IMG_20231127_101918907.jpgIMG_20231127_101926839.jpg

Maiden of the little one was perfect requiring just a tiny bit of trim. Second and third flights had a nice hands off boost and again no issue belly landing. Interesting on this one the flow through turbojet pod made a whistling sound on the way up that I didn't notice with the bigger version.
