There are a few things about that story I don't understand, and we get plenty of foxes and we get on well with them (don't feed them of course). For example, a 10lb fox making off with a 10lb. baby. It probably got in through a catflap; we don't have screen doors. The torn finger (not quite off) was because of the mother and the fox pulling in opposite directions.
London boroughs used to cull foxes; the last one stopped when they realised it was costing them £4000 a head in 1984 when that was probably not far off $10000.
Of course if you do that all you get is another fox moving in to the territory. I'd say that particular fox has got to go, though. it's obviously dangerous. Wouldn't be too hard to find. They're territorial.
