I have been lurking for a little while now.
I'm based in Melbourne, Australia and getting back into hobby after a 20 year hiatus (low power).
Are there any fellow Melburnians/Aussies about? It would be great to link up and share some knowledge and launch sites.

Thanks everyone! Already super excited by the wealth of knowledge on here.
If anyone has any tips on launch sites (keeping things fairly low to begin with), local resources or clubs it would be greatly appreciated.

The Victorian Rocketry Association currently uses 2 sites for HPR which are outside of Melbourne: https://www.victorianrocketry.org.au

For LPR, a guess a large park area.

G'Day @OverTheTop - I'm in the bayside area not far from Elwood. How about you?
Would appreciate any park tips. We have Elsternwick park nearby but it can get a little busy and is lined with trees.

Caulfield Park perhaps? We used to fly LPR/MPR in the middle of the Caulfield race track but that was 25+ years ago.

Eastern suburbs for me, about 20km east of the CBD.

Police paddocks and behind the national volleyball center in Dandenong were used too.

ISTR Dandenong wetlands wasn’t a bad site. Lost a few gliders to thermals there.

Not bad, but IMO it wasn't a great site either. Small area, freeway close by, nevertheless, had some fun with Wombat (Matt) and Krusty there.

Yes, the wetlands are behind the volleyball center. Melbourne Metropolitan Rocketry Group flew there. Including me!

Does Melbourne Metropolitan Rocketry Group still exist?
Are there any state or other regulations/restrictions I should be aware of for LPR in the Melbourne area? It's not easy to track down the info.
