Here is my LOC Cyclotron with an alphabet theme. If the field dries in time it will have it's first flight this weekend.
That looks nice. Did you paint the letters or are they some kind of decal/sticker?
Nice flight. Could be a bit if problem in the snow finding that one!
I am being slowly inspired to embark on a tubefin build!
:cry::wink:
Thought I would share my FSI Viking. I love the way it looks and flies. One of my first kits too.

First off, please excuse the build/finish quality on this - this is just a prototype. I did not put a lot of time/energy into quality on this, it was just to test out how this might work. I plan to build a nicer version of this at some point.
Basically, the tube fins pierce the airframe. There are no centering rings, as the internal portions of the tube fins anchor the motor tube. As well the airframe itself tapers down (sort of a boat-tail) along the length of the fins. And finally, I heavily tapered the leading/trailing edges of the tubes.
btw - the prototype worked; I test fired this just a short time ago and it flew great.
Previously posted in the FSI Viking gallery, here is a collage of my Vikings I, II, II and IV.
FSI Viking 3. Pretty much a 1:1 clone, but with Estes parts.
Even with a C6-7 this was an impressive flight. Followed the same flight path as all of the E9 flights, but lower and at a steeper angle. The streamer brought it almost straight down and it wound up as my longest walk and toughest find of the day.
I'd sure like to copy these Vikings to the Viking gallery.
May I?
Sure.
Sorry. I didn't realize they had their own gallery. I thought they got grouped under tube fins.
Not a problem.
Generally, everything has its own gallery section. Then there are things like "Tube Fin" that serve as catch alls and include both production models and scratch builds.
