Finally had some good weather to paint the Estes Super Nova. Build is simple and I took some close ups of the fins post Brodak. After I built the rocket I shot the old formula Krylon Gloss black with no primer followed by Krylon Silver. Old formula Krylon does not come in silver so I had to use what I could find at the hardware store. Sorry about the lint on black finish, I just took off the mask and have not wiped it down yet. I will wipe it down before applying the decals tomorrow. For sealing the fins, I applied a coat of Brodak, waited 15 min and brushed on a second coat. Let it dry for 45 min and sanded, then brushed on just one coat of Brodak. Another 45 min I sanded smooth and that's it she was ready for paint. The booster fins can be turned upside down for a traditional looking 2 stage rocket.

You gonna fire up a shot of whiskey in the payload tube to celebrate?
I finished mine 2 months ago but didnt get to fly it until this weekend on a B6-4 (no booster) and went pretty darn high with just a glowstick for payload. I went for a metallic blue/silver combo, ended up looking like a red bull can
