Estes ALCM Rebuild Thread

It's finally done. After getting shoved aside in the build/paint queue, I found the wing attachment plate, fixed a problem with the blue decals, applied them and hit it with the amazing home cleaning products clearcoat of Pledge/Future + Simple Green.

For an odd bit of karma, kenrico was here tonight for a building session while I was finishing this off...he was also around 25+ years ago when it got built the first time. :handshake: Anyway I think the whole restoration process did the ALCM some good.

It's not that hard to do simple cleanup to get what I would call acceptable results. You can go down the rabbit hole very quickly though, and start redrawing things. Helps to have high quality starting scans.

Here's what I got after literally 5 minutes with the original file. Maybe I'll do a quick tutorial in the techniques section if folks want.
