Dual recovery retention?

I have had many people say they use shear pins or plastic screws to prevent premature seperation of the main chute bay.
I have checked every vendors websites I can think of and can't find anything.
Where can I buy shear pins or plastic screws?

One question I have though, is 1/8 or 3/16 styrene rod better? 3 inch tubing, fiberglass.

I use 2-56 nylon pan-head screws. Two per joint on 3" and 4" airframes, three or four on 6" and above. Ground test to make sure they'll shear, and let 'er rip. Easy and painless!
