I have a 75mm, 6-grain EX motor that had a pyrodex pellet epoxied to the top of the grains. The other day, I knocked the motor over and the pellet came free. It is rattling inside the core. What should I do?

  • Try to get it out and use a large igniter?
  • Leave it in, and try to shove it up to the top of the motor, and use a smaller igniter?
  • Something else?
I am using a dowel to insert the igniter. And of course, I am concerned about it blocking the nozzle.

Thanks for any ideas/past experiences.

If you can get it out, I would attach another pellet to ematch and tape to dowel as shown in pic.

I'd open the motor and remove it or reglue it.

Making a step in the core to hold the pellet might help prevent it from coming loose.

I would make sure it's epoxied back in place or removed.. otherwise you may have plugged motor issues (or funky start issues).
