I bought several 24/40 and 29/40-120 reloads. Some are about 6 years old, some 10 years, a few older. I've heard that the delay becomes a delaaayyyy as they age. At what point should I be looking to buy one of the HDK replacements? I'm guessing that I should replace the 10+ year old ones, what about the 6 year old one?

Hans.

We bought some older motors from a widow and thats the number one problem we have with them is the ejection charge not going off. Granted they are older than ten years old so I would say ten year old yes for sure, the six year old I'm not sure on. We run a backup altimeter in them now just to keep from lawn darting them. I made one that just zipties to the shroud line out of an eggtimer apogee setup just for that reason. Otherwise we dont take a chance anymore and run new reloads if we cant put in the backup.
