Hi Gang,

I have offered to sell a rare kit for a club member. It is an original, super rare, and complete Vashon X-13 Rocketplane starter set. I have never seen one before. This is just in awesome condition.

Bid early, and bid often...

ebay #5999966158

And yes.... I have scanned everything and already sent it off to YORF.

So - for the benefit of anyone who might never have heard of this particular model (me)... what is it that makes it so rare and potentially valuable?

VASHON was a short lived company that developed model rockets that used non flammable R-100 propellant (basically a can of freon) in a lightweight aluminum 'motor'.

The company only lasted a few years in the very late 1960's and early 1970's as they were bought up by ESTES, and the models became the Cold Propellant line.

In fact, this exact model was re-packaged and sold by ESTES. Check out this page from the ESTES 1973 catalog:

https://www.ninfinger.org/~sven/rockets/catalogs/estes73/73est46.html

This particular auction is for a Vashon kit, not and ESTES coldpower kit. That combined with the production short run, and the pristine condition of the kit make it so especially rare.
