    Rocketry classes

Hmm. I think I'm set on the School Rocket from BMS for the younger kids, or for the second graders at least. I think I'll get the dooDad or thingamajig for the first graders. As for the older kids, I think I'll go for the Baby Bertha. I'll most likely have an assistant, so I don't think getting...

    Rocketry classes

Hmm, correction: the classes are an hour and a half each. I think I'm set on doing a demo launch for the first class just to get the kids excited and have a tangible goal in mind for them to reach. The first class will definitely have no building. I'm planning on having a simple demo launch and...

    Rocketry classes

I've been thinking about the Fliskits dooDad for the lower class; I've always been pleased with Fliskits in the past. For the upper class, I may go with the Baby Bertha. These aren't set decisions though; I'm open to any suggestions. As for a demo launch for the first day; I was thinking that...

    Rocketry classes

Hey guys, I'm teaching rocketry classes at my old elementary school. It'll be an extracurricular for the elementary students. I'll only have (4) two hour long classes for this. I'm going to spend the first day teaching about the basics of rocketry and then the second and third days building. The...

How to slot for TTW fins?

Oh and to answer your question, OP, I like to cut out the slots by hand with a hobby knife. If I get impatient, I'll hack (carefully) away with a razor saw and clean it up nicely with sandpaper. The razor saw only comes out with the thicker walled body tubes.

How to slot for TTW fins?

If you're referring to tacking the fins on the body tube before fillets, they're both reasonable as long as you use thin layers of glue over the surfaces to be bonded. Obviously, a thicker layer of glue will take longer to set so a thin layer is favorable. Besides, if you're using this to tack...

    Location of Launch Lugs

I personally use two short lugs, anywhere from 1 to 1.5 inches long. The first one goes way in the rear, many times flush with the aft end of the tube, like Chris said. It became a habit for me to place the second lug at the CG...however, I never thought about placing it at the CP until I read...

    Smooth wood fins

How easy is it to sand this stuff? The main reason why I use FnF or wood putty is that it's so easy to sand. By the way, I found that lightweight drywall putty work very well too. It's a bit expensive for the amount you get though.

    Fat Boy

What did you use for the rivets? Did you use small dots of glue?

Constantly having to log in under IE8 :P

Or Chrome. I've been using it for i think a year and a half now, and I've had zero problems with it. Of the problems I did have, Google fixed them in their later updates.

    6mm Reload composites?;dream or a possibility?

YES that was the website. I guess they removed the 6mm reloadable page.

    6mm Reload composites?;dream or a possibility?

You could do reloadable 6mm motors just for fun, but I highly doubt seeing it in retail markets. I've seen a website that had a page dedicated to 6mm reloadables. I forgot the website though, because it's been such a long time since I looked at it. I remember the URL having "scott" in it (I...

    Wildman mongoose rocket fins

I think it's because that, now forgive me here because I have no clue if I'm right or wrong, the reduced angle of the leading edge proposes a more aerodynamic shape. It won't cause as much turbulence and drag as a trapezoid would, which conventionally stick out of a rocket. And cause it looks...

    File Recovery Software?

Thanks. I did look around on Google for the free ones. I'm just afraid of getting viruses and such from them.

    File Recovery Software?

Hey, I haven't been too active in a while...kind of lost interest since I haven't been able to do much lately. However...can anyone recommend me a good, reliable file recovery software I can use to recover around 200 pictures from my camera's memory card? I uploaded them to my desktop and...

    New iPod owner

I have a silver 4GB Nano, 2nd gen. 4 gigs is becoming too small for me, and my iPod is starting to break down. I'm hoping to get, not an iPod, but one of the new Zune HD's soon. I love the interface on it, and I've heard that it sounds as good, if not better, than the 2nd gen iPod Touch which is...

    Airsoft Anyone?

I just got back from paintballing at Skirmish, in PA. It was my second time going, my first time being about two years ago. Great fun...I'm now curious as to how airsoft compares.:D

    KBA G135 Redline

That motor is banging! Very nice boost. Did that have some rod whip on it? Weather cocking?

    Tube fins with engines inside.

That looks very cool. However, I express the same concerns as powder. Will there be enough airflow through the available space to provide sufficient stabilty?

    TTW fins with clustered mounts

I agree with the above comments. I'd go for three outboards simply for the ease of TTW fin installation. And powder's comment with dry fitting the aft CR is a great tip. I use this exclusively on my TTW rockets, and the great thing is that you get full access to the innards and have all the time...
