    Entry level HPR

I appreciate everyone's input. I know LOC and Madcow have good kits. I also know SBR went out of business, which was my reason for posting the question. However, I was wondering if any other company produced kits that were more "all inclusive" and geared toward someone wanting to get their L1...

    Entry level HPR

I am recently considering moving into HPR, and I started looking around. I saw the Fusion by SBR, and it looked ideal. It came with electronics, chutes, clear instructions, and was suitable for both L1/L2 certification flights. It even had an optional GoPro mount. Sadly, they seem to have gone...

    JonRocket.com - FOR SALE

Well, I am sad to hear this news. Yours is the only vendor sticker that I have on my rocket storage box (which I take to every launch), as so many vendors are fly-by-night or have spotty service or charge way too much. You have (had?) good prices and great service, and you have been around about...

    Video Disks for Spools

Has anyone here used video discs (9 or 12 inch version) to make a spool rocket? I thought about selling mine on eBay, but with selling prices of around $2, it's not worth my time. My questions are a) do they hold up under recovery, or do they break like CDs, b) are they safe, as they are...

    Cutting Body Tube

My method is a little more low tech, but I haven't had any issues with it. I use an Estes tube marker to get a straight line around the tube. I then use that mark to guide the application of several wraps of masking tape, enough to make a significant guide. Then, like others have said, I make...

FlisKits Tres Modification: Aces over Threes

    Wasn't Carl T.'s upscale Tres two-staged?

    Roachwerks Little Joe II

I don't see what all the big deal is. My Roachwerks Little Joe II was pretty easy to construct, and I don't see any room for all the details you guys are talking about.;)

Happy Friday & TRF 1.0 News!!!

I just hope that all the nay-sayers and malcontents that groused and grumbled and threw stones (while not lifting a finger to help) when TRF 1.0 crashed have the good graces to apologize now. Thank you Troy and Kevin (and all the volunteers who go unnamed).

    Nice Launch today

Nope, Tim's spinning chutes are on purpose. It involves offsetting the gores and putting a really good swivel on it. Here is an article on two ways to produce this with a plastic chute. Obviously, the second method could be used when sewing a nylon one...

Your most jinxed rocket what is it?

Estes Gemini DC. I built three of those things, and of all the attempts I only got one flight where I got both chutes out. Several single chutes, a couple of fatal non-deploys, and one engine w/ vectored thrust that gave me a power prang. After that one, I swore off the entire design.

    Should We "Register" Ourselves Now?

I've never understood why there isn't some sort of currency requirement, along with mishap investigation/sanctions. I'm using the FAA liscensing of pilots as the model for my thoughts. You know, you must make X number of DD flights > X impulse in a calendar year to keep your L3 current. If...

    FlisKits: Nantucket Sound

Since the body of the lighthouse is a shroud, are you considering making different lighthouses available for download, like you have done with the ACME or Stingray? If you have already answered this, sorry to repeat.

    New Deuce Thread!

So what's up with the Tour de Duece? Does anyone know where the models are, and what are the plans for the last few states?

Thanks for your help. I'll get it figured out.

    Motor Retention

I have my first 29mm rocket, and I have a problem. My son started to build it, and didn't really position the centering rings well. Long story short, I don't have blind nuts installed for clips, and there isn't enough engine mount to put one of the Great Leap type retainers. I found this...

Rockets made only from flat materials

If you are looking for something a little more sci-fi than what's been offered, might I suggest a Papernator? https://fliskits.com/services/dom/2003/09-september/davis_papernator.htm I've built it and it flies pretty well. Plenty of room for your recovery device, too. Not sure if it...

    Copperhead Replacements

Thank you for the info. I was looking for a "store-bought" igniter, and those Quest sound good. I had seen the AT First-Fire Jr, but their product catalog describes them as being for F & G/29mm & 38mm.

    Copperhead Replacements

Does anyone know of a source of replacement ignitors for the 18mm and 24mm RMS and SU of Aerotech? I can never seem to get those copperheads to fit. I have a few "Firefly" ignitors left, but it seems they are no longer made (according to Ken Allen).

    Estes + Aerotech engine compatibility

I've flown my Big Daddy on an E30-4. Remember, Big Daddy is pretty draggy, and you may be coming downhill pretty good if you go with a -7 delay.
