I don't see how you got that 4" patriot to weigh 4.5 lbs. I built an EZI 65, stetched it about a foot, added an electronics bay, glassed the fins to the motor tube, and used modest fillets. I have a 45" main in it, and that rocket weighs 4.25 lbs empty.
I have used the stuff from US composites for many projects. I am getting some West System to replace the 9 oz. hobby epoxy I would get at the hobby joint. I like to use West Systems 105 resin with some 206 hardener for fillets. I always add some chopped carbon (graphite) fiber. Sometimes, if you...
Ryan,
I personally consider the LOC Big Nuke too big of a rocket for a 54mm hybrid motor, but it will work. If you set it (assuming HT) to the highest average thrust you should be fine, but you are only getting 3500'. To me that is fairly low for a J flight. I would recommened using...
Airforce, your post could easily confuse the new rocketeer.
The motor mount in the Mustang is 29mm. This will facilitate E - I class motors. The Mustang includes an Apapter that will take the 29mm motor mount to a 24mm motor mount. 24mm motors include engines in the classes of C - G.
So...
1) I have never had a problem purchasing either F or G motors. I purcahse most of my motors from a local vendor at the Tripoli launch, and online. If you order online just use your parents credit card.
2) Well, go to www.apogeerockets.com and download the Demo version of Rocksim. You can...
I would go with the Mach 12's. Look on Ebay for a Mach 12 at $4.25. Click on this item and somewhere on that page there is usually a link to a bulkpack. If you cannot get ahold of one of these, the Pratt ones will work. If you do go with the Pratt ones, I recommend using CA, or some type of an...
Well, with glassing, I strongly reccommend NOT glassing the outside fillets as this makes finishing a pain. I would use glass on the to the motor mount fillets. I have heard speading it out, or rolling it and stciking it into the fillet. I know this is not as easy, but if a good rocket is a plus...
Doug,
How old are you? Would you be interested in joining GYRO, the Global Organazation of Rocketry. We have a discussion group, and a couple of us are resurecting it from the dead. Email - [email protected] if interested
If you are under 18 and interested in rocketry, give me your email. GYRO is
back, and I am currently the leader. There is a new Yahoo group for this
purpose. This group will let young rocketeers ask questions and discus rocketry with a group that is their age.
Kermie, looks cool. You should be able to put longewr fin roots with rocksim. All you have to do is type the number manually, or if using the graph, change the scale.
What should I do for motor reteion on my LOC Legacy. I was thinking about using the hose-clamp method, but I want someting else. As of know I am planing on anchoring things in each centering rig and use wire.
