I admitted my Close Encouter, Rocketry Forum is fun once again!!! How fun is that?

I did something miraculous at a Party once, and though I knew the Secret to the Magic Trick, everyone took it as Truth, and It was so cool that I let them beleive I had Swallowed Fire. After awhile I could not live with myself and told everybody how to make that Illusion.

It was just me having incredibly Calloused Hands, which allowed me to "Pluck" Coals from the Fire Pit, then land them in my Mouth.
nobody noticed me taking a bit swhall of Beer before saying "Hey, Watch This!". Th Beer in my Maw put the Coal out ofcourse, but everyone watching had the impression that I had just eaten and chewed up a Hot Coal from the Fire Pit.
It was cool at first, but then they gave me the Nickname "Crazy Dave", and I'm like totally Sane, so I wish I never did that at that Party.
It ruined my Credibility, because it was Whacky.

I filled my mouth with lightning bugs once at a party, then walked up to a group of people and stood quietly, which caused them to become alarmed because I'm rarely quiet, and when I am the cops aren't far behind. When they all looked at me, I opened my mouth and stuck out my tongue, letting the lightning bugs fly off. When the last one left I proclaimed myself a "Lightning Bug Aircraft Carrier".
Took a lot of beer to get the taste of lightning bug out of my mouth.:puke:

That's pretty Cool. I've eaten Moths.

Lol! I'm thinking it may have taken an equal amount of beer to tell that story just now.

Great story!

But it's Probably time for bed...

Ha ha!

Ok, I've been been watching TopRamen post some crazy stories tonight, and I thought this was another one of his. This was only your first crazy story, fishhead, so you do not have to go to bed yet. You get a few more crazy stories.

Proceed...

Nah, I'm an old timer. I'm sure I've told a lot of them over the years, maybe even this one.

I walked away from my career in video games over personal convictions. That's just how I am.

Now if I could just get my son to do that.............

Sorry Shrox, couldn't resist. Yes I do understand that as a graphics creator (hope I have that right) you truly made a living in the video game industry. Aside from being a purchaser of video games and equipment, my son like most boys he doesn't make any financial PROFIT from them.

Back to the post. I have yet to see any of these adds show up on my browsers (IE and FireFox.) I am sure it would be annoying.

As for it obscuring your contact information, given your designs you are obviously both intelligent and creative, I have no doubt you can work your way around it.

I will say that since this forum is "free" for those using it, the owners are equally free to place whatever they want into and over the VOLUNTARILY contributed content. In comparison a large number of YouTube videos carry scrolling or other adds (although I think some of that is consented to by the contributors, perhaps for profit. ) Although I would prefer it not to be there doesn't keep ME personally from watching stuff that has adds scrolling over the bottom. I'd still look at your stuff even if it had TP adds on it, for whatever that is worth, LOL.

Good luck finding another forum that meets your standards. You would very much be missed on this one.

Actually.... No. The content posted, pictures , text, videos, unless otherwise encumbered, are the property of the posting authors. It is a fundamental violation of copyright law to alter, especially with commercial intent, any material posted. I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advise. However, I CAN recommend a good copyright lawyer (whose husband is into HPR and a Tripoly member).

Oh, cool. Do you think you could mention this content coverage question to them?

I'm another user of the forum that hasn't witnessed ANY of the ads that some have referred to. Based on this and accounts from others - isn't it entirely possible that those that are complaining are experienced malware issues on their own personal PCs? There are some very nasty malware programs that put a ton of adware popups on PCs.

I just don't understand how some are experiencing these menacing ads....yet others of us are seeing no changes and simply see the basic, unobtrusive banner ads at the top (that are completely rocket related).

Just my 2 cents.

No one logged in experiencing ads, that is not the concern. Read back some and it's explained.

Let's hope the issue is resolved. I *hope* this was all done by accident, someone overlooking a feature.

Deleted. Currently browsing via Forumrunner on my iPod, so I can't actually remove the post.

Don't mind me.

It's more about the question of ads routinely covering the the area that information about a graphic or media has been traditionally placed. Everything from checks to artwork has the pertinent info in the lower right corner. (The signature of authorization.)

Anyway, my solution is to not contribute media.

I don't see a difference.

So far it's a non-issue for me.

For those who care,... to each their own.

Could the ads go too far? Of course,... time will tell.

Use Chrome + addblock... I don't see ads on any website, let alone this.

What's interesting is that nowhere in this has anyone pointed out the obvious answer -- if you find your pictures are getting a banner stuck at the bottom under certain circumstances, create them with a white section at the bottom. Since everything here is presented on a white background, if there's nothing put over it, that white strip won't even be apparent to a user.

The reality of the Internet is this....unless you have 100% complete control over a site, you have zero control over how any content you submit to that site is rendered.

Or we could make a game of it...

If the Ad's are predictable,... put a competing product in the background! Put a giant stack of Kirkland TP in the back of every photo!

 :surprised:

I haven't noticed a single change. Don't see the stuff at the bottom of pics, the Banner ads at the top don't bother me, in fact, this is one place I actually click on them, as their content is relevant to me being here in the first place. There are new owners? I'm a casual user here, Like Many. I hadn't noticed that either.

I frequent other hobby sites, and one basically asks users for a $10-20 donation each year to keep it running. I think about 50% donate, I do sometimes, when I think about it. Seems to work. If one wanted to create a new forum, that may be a good way to fund it.

There is also always Ye Old Rocket Forum...

Shrox, I'd take others advice. Leave it alone. My advice: just adapt and alter your content so that your info isn't obscured...

Everything is now back to the way it was, it can probably be laid to rest. For now.

This thread can be locked, I have reached the people that understand the point. They get it.

C'mon, don't lock it now, I still have some popcorn left.
