This thread is about where you would go if you hit the mother load. And you want to live in the best place to fly rockets. Thay don't have to be the biggest or the badest rockets. But a place where you would never want to leave. But to only take a vacation from it. Where would your destination be ?

I'd still like to be near my family, somewhere in the mid-atlantic area...but I'd get a BIG yard. In fact, it's kind of geeky, but when the Powerball or whatever gets into the 100's of millions, it actually crosses my mind that "a prize THIS big will allow me to blow enough money to make my back yard a 1 mile square field with nice grass, as long as I live."

I'd move to Adelaide, South Australia - Dry Mediterranean climate. Then I could fly in the outback and eat shrimp on the barbie. They have decent beer and wine too.

the coast in the pacific northwest, always feel right at home there

Somewhere near where I already am, but far enough from the city to buy a couple square miles of land. One for rockets with no trees and another for the trees and the house. Vacations are still required. Trips to Fiji. Australia, the Virgin Islands and other interesting places to SCUBA dive as well as the Grand Canyon, Big Bend and other national parks to hike in, I also still want to go to Philmont Scout Ranch.

I'd move somewhere on the NC outerbanks, south of the Pea Island wildlife reserve to avoid the tourist areas up north. Granted a thin strip of land where the wind always blows is not rocket compatible, but I'd be able to aford to travel to launch.

As much as I'd love to move back to my native Texas it's out of the question. The climate where I grew up (SE Texas Piney Woods) is not arthritis friendly. Three of the other six geographical regions in the state are no better, and the other three just aren't appealing. The same problems occur in the various locales where my family members live.

Northern Utah would have been my next choice as my wife has many family members there. My wife doesn't want to move back there, though, despite the fact that we both dearly love the natural beauty of the Cache Valley. Too many sad memories, among other things.

There is really only one place that fits the majority of our requirements. I need somewhere that has a rocketry club, RC club and astronomy club. It also has to have a relatively moderate climate due to my arthritis. My wife needs someplace with decent job opportunities and where she can do the notarial and virtual assistant work she loves. Both of us require someplace that has a strong community of others of our faith, that has good medical care available, and that has a relatively low population density. After much searching I think I finally found the perfect place:

Boise, Idaho.

....well, I don't know about "perfect" but it is a nice place to live :)

I would buy a big RV and travel around the country flying with all the great people on TRF.

Agreed. I might even stop in to do some skiing and sightseeing around this great nation of ours.

That would have to be me also. I would need to look around to see all the places to fly then make a decision where I would settle in. Another place I would like to go would be Cuba but in a better state than what is right now.

I think that is what I would do as well..A big 45' Class A RV..All decked out..But, if I were to get the 'motherlode' I would give the driving duties to someone else ..1 so I can relax and build rockets while on the go, and 2 I have had enough of dealing with ignorant car drivers-let someone else have the headache!

Big Class A Bus fans , not in Michigan would need wrecker to get in and out of fields I've been too .... the fancy paint on the bus would be a landing pad magnet too :y::y:

Class C is plenty ,

You have to think out side the box. That is when you brake open the trailer on the back pull out the jeep with rockets on mount.

Easy enough for me to figure out---South West Ga. Lake Seminole-- , A nice little 2 bdrm house on the water with a nice dock for the nice bass boat. About 5 or 6 acres would do me just fine --fenced of course , so the girls can run! Nothin but Bald Eagles and Alligators and crystal clear skys for star gazing--yea, summers are a pain---ehhh , I can go north and do a little Walleye fishin then---money to burn baby!!!
