I have a problem not so much with the case, but with the thrust ring. It is just a hair too big to fit into the retainer on my Baddazz MkIII. How can I get it so that the case fits and I can fly Loki in the rocket? All I can think of is to turn it on a lathe, if I can find one. I just dont want to damage it to the paint that it is unreliable.

You can probably use good sandpaper and sand the outside of the thrust ring. A lathe would help.

There was the same issues with the GLR slimline motor retainers. They recommend simply grinding the thrust ring down until it fits.

If I'm not mistake, Loki uses an external snap ring like AMW does. If that's the case, the answer is patient work with a metal file -- you don't need to take much off.

Roll the case on a table, with the thrust ring hanging over the edge, and lay a large metal file on the top of the thrust ring. As you roll the case, a little downward pressure and keep going until it fits.

Two questions first.

1. Which motor case in question

2. Which version bright blue older version or darker greenish blue new version

A spiral ring not a snap ring.
The older 54's used 2.25" pipe that was turned down to fit but, left a 1/4 inch on one end as a thrust ring.

Mason is talking about a 38mm motor, which should all be the same.

You would have to file it Mason, similar to what has been mentioned. I couldn't tell you how much as I don't know the ID on the motor retainer. I just know it's not very fun. Personally, I'd go around the ring with s dremel tool and a sanding drum. It'll go a LOT quicker. You might take the ring off first too, just in case you slip.

All my Loki cases are the new style and they all fit in my slimline retainers from Giant Leap. I haven't tried any other brands yet.
