Mark Hayes emailed me about my sim of the Estes Impulse Pro Series Kit... Problem is, that file and all my archived information was lost in a HD crash back in 2016.

Found the instructions, and a drawing of the fins, but I'd like to get scans of them to ensure accuracy, as well as all the rest of the flat parts (including the decals)(with a ruler, for scale).

I also need info on the dimensions of the body tubes, engine tubes, launch lugs, tube coupler, as well as the shock cord, and parachute (I might be able to find that on my own (given I can get some sleep so I won't fall out of my chair right now)).

Any Help here would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Bump

I still really Really REALLY need the fin scans.

Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

K'Tesh,

I have an assembled Pro Series Impulse that is still in very good condition (no crashes, no repairs), so I might be able to get some of the info you need. I built it pretty much stock except I replaced the shock cord. Obviously, since it is built, I can't get scans of the fins. PM me if you still need the info and we can discuss what I might be able to provide.

The nosecone and tubing to clone this kit and the old Maxi-Force are available from Estes. It would be great if we can get scans of the decals and fin dimensions, hopefully someone can find one to measure/scan.

Hi James,

YES!!! I'd LOVE them!!! Of course scans of the fins and decals (along with a ruler for scaling) would make the completion of the sim a lot faster.

As far as I know, they are in a package that is on its way to me now. However, it's been stuck in USPS limbo since June 20th, and the person who is sending that package to me is busy unpacking from a move out of state.

I am trying to get centering rings made for the Impulse and Maxi-Force, I was wondering if you ever scanned the parts and decals? In addition, I wonder if these used standard 24 mm tubes, or thicker tubes for the mounts.

Can you scan them before dropping them off? Safer that way that they won't be lost.

I have a impulse kit that is built. Not sure if that is any help. But let me know what you need

It would be great if you could post the length of the leading edge, tip edge, trailing edge and root edge of the fins. Is the trailing edge flush with the back of the rocket, or do the fins attach further up the tube, and how far? What is the height and length of the impulse decal? I don’t see the stripes, but the height and length of those too if you can.

Yeah when I get a chance over the next week I’ll try and get you some measurements and pics

A box from the US arrived yesterday, and it included the only decals of the Impulse I've received to date (there may be others somewhere, but this is what I have "in hand" at this point...

They're far from complete though... Here's an image I found online of the kit's decals (stickers actually).

Kicking around the idea of building a clone version of the Estes Impulse and found an Interesting piece of info that I did not realize until last night. When I took the fins out of the box I thought they looked awful familiar. I quickly grabbed my Maxi Alpha III and compared. They looked to be almost exact. I then grabbed my Red Flare (same fins as Maxi Alpha) and compared.

They are an EXACT match except for the fin tabs. The balsa has TTW where the red flare has the plastic tabs. Now keep in mind that the Impulse does have you add hard wood to the outside edge of the fins but the core balsa pieces are the exact same as the Maxi Alpha III.

If you could put a ruler at the root edge of that and scan it for me, I'd be grateful!

Anytime. I'm going to keep my original in box Impulse and build a clone with a 29mm mount on the forums in a couple of weeks. Would like to get it built and flown this year but weather in my area is already starting to turn.
