Getting ready for a launch tomorrow and finally getting a chance to use my new Mobius mini. I picked a couple shrouds from Additive Aerospace(4” and 2.65”)
Looking at them on the rocket, they look huge? Especially on the 2.6” rocket. Are these too big to make a good flight. I’m going to try and simulate them on open rocket but I thought I’d ask here. Am I better off just taping the camera directly to the tube?

I have flown both the mini and regular mobius cameras in the Additive Aerospace shrouds on rockets as small as 54mm up to about 700mph and 12k feet with no issues. Bigger fins seem to help reduce spinning which make for a better video but other than that you should be fine.

Thanks. One other question. Can I just tape these down with masking tape or electrical tape temporarily. Not ready to commit to placement yet and screw them down.

I have always modified mine to use two 4-40 screws one through the removable end cover and one under the camera which I then screw into a small tapped aluminum strip that I place inside the rocket. I have about 4-5 of these shrouds which I love between different rockets.

I believe double sided carpet tape would work up to a point but I don’t like to take chances nor do I want to make them permanent.

Yes! I recommend electrical tape. A couple sticky side out circles underneath, 2 strips horizontal around the tube and over the camera, and 2-3 stretching from the camera towards the front of the tube. The last part makes a nice slope and keeps air from getting under the tape at the camera.
