Hey All,

I am considering exterior finish for my LOC IV. Not sure which direction I am going to go, but one of the options is a civilian 'semi-scale' rocket exterior, i.e., vertical "UNITED STATES", roll markings, panel lines, maybe some small placards, US flag - that sort of thing.

Does anyone know of a company that makes a NASA/Civilian-style decal set appropriate for a 4" tube X 47 inch rocket? I can work out the roll patterns and panel lines with paint and pinstripe decals/paint, so I am mostly interested in the vertical 'UNITED STATES' flag and placard/markings, connection points, exterior receptacles - those kinds of generic details.

Something along the lines in the photo. I realize I could probably find a Saturn V set but I would like more details as the relative scale will be smaller, something along the lines of a sounding/atmospheric test rocket.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks for the links! The Sirius detail sheets look especially promising.

I think I have sttled on a Titan II/Gemini-like paint scheme as an homage to the 60's space program, the roll bars, etc., would be easy enough to do with paint, and some of the detail decals will top it off. what I am kinda stuck on now is a vertical 'UNITED STATES' decal. A Saturn V decal might work, but I think I want mine in black and all I can find is red. I am thinking a sign shop could cut me a vinyl stencil for a reasonable price.

Thanks, again,

C

For black letters at that size your best bet would probably be inkjet printed decals on clear decal media. Also probably can be done in vinyl but the letters look to be at the small end of what you can successfully cut (around 1/4" is the practical limit, 3/8" is more comfortable). I've done similar size stuff on the Cameo (like a Cricut) but sometimes takes multiple tries, especially when "S" is involved. Talk to Mark at Stickershock though, that guy is a wizard.

Good information, thanks!

I'm almost afraid to inquire as to how much a sheet of black block letters would cost. Shouldn't be much, but then I would have never imagined an aluminum tube with internal threads at each end would cost $70...
