Ahead of his time. He intrained many of our youth. Thanks for your addition to our culture. You can rest knowing your accomplishments have touched so many.

This one hurts.. He is directly responsible for introducing so much joy into the world, often exactly when we needed it. I hope he gets to be with his wife again, I cannot imagine the hurt to have lived on without her after so long together.

RIP Stan Lee - you will never be forgotten.

Sad news indeed...

Thanks for all the stories Stan.

God Bless you Mr. Lieber

There are some people who can just crank out story after story after story. It blows me away that he was able to write Spider-Man, the Hulk, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, the Avengers, Dr. Strange and several other titles every single month. And never seemed to recycle a story.

Captain America
Fantastic Four
Spider-Man
Hulk
Iron Man
Thor
Ant Man/Goliath/Giant Man
Wasp
Bucky Barnes
Namor
the X-Men
Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos
rick Jones
Silver Surfer
the Inhumans
Man-Thing
Scarlet Witch
Hawkeye
Quicksilver
She-Hulk
Ka-Zar
Adam Warlock
Captain Marvel

And I haven't even started on the villains and supporting characters....

At 95 he lived more than most, especially as a heavy smoker for years.
His contributions to Comic Books and Super Hero Movies I doubt will ever be forgotten.
I loved that he had a very brief part in each movie, usually with some humor.
Stan Lee also visited television in the series of Super Humans.
The man may have passed (as we all will eventually), but his talent will live on.
I'm sure in his circle he will be missed more than anyone one of us can say.

In many ways the comic books were much better than the movies. In the late 50's in my neighborhood DC with Superman and Batman were all the rave and Marvel comics were unknown. In the early 60's the Marvel comics started to appear and the new Super Heroes seemed to have so much character. The Superman character in the comics appeared to be flat by comparison. Marvel would have these long Super Hero fights quite often with "good" guys fighting the "good" guys for some contrived reason that the heroes were totally convinced in. Sometimes the fights would go on for the whole comic book, where DC would be broken into maybe 2 or 3 stories in each book.

The fights were fabulous with the heroes saying how they were going to defeat the other side. The Hulk seemed to be invincible. In one story all the other Marvel Super Heroes were trying to stop the Hulk as he went along through New York City. None of them could stop the Hulk. At the end the Hulk lamented that no one liked the Hulk and he simply jumped into the water and swam away and that was the end of the story What an unexpected and fantastic ending!

The wedding day of Reed Richards and Sue was so much better in the comics than the movie. All the Marvel villains came to NYC to ruin the wedding and were met in turn by all the Marvel Heroes. They paired up and fought all day long. At the end of the day the bad guys were all defeated and the wedding went on without a hitch. Late in the evening two guys in tuxedos show up at the front door of the grand reception hall. They are met by the bouncer who is an Agent of Shield. He turns them away. In the last scene as the two guys, Stan Lee and Kirby, walk away they are totally miffed that they were not let into the reception. What an ending!

RIP STAN LEE
Such a part of my life and more so my sons life growing up.
The world will gets duller as we lose such great creators of fantasy.

Didn't he have a hand in some DC properties also? Or am I misremembering things that occurred before my lifespan?

No, Lee was always Marvel. You may be thinking of Jack Kirby, who co-created many of the early characters and then moved on to DC after he disputed with Marvel about ownership.

His comic book characters were my heroes growing up. I would get my $25 allowance and go to a corner drug store and buy two of the latest books - Iron Man, Dr Strange, and The Fantastic Four were my favorites (12 cents each and a penny sales tax).

None of us get out of this life alive in the physical sense. Stan Lee's accomplishments will always be with me and I am sure the rest of us that enjoyed his work.

Rest In Peace!

Copy that, now it's clear

I had just finished a little Captain America's Shield Metal Earth to put on my desk too. Sad day

Actually, yes he did.

From link in OP
The Canadian Press said:
In 2000, Lee agreed to write stories for DC Comics, reinventing Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and other signature characters for Marvel's one-time rival. DC Vice-President and Publisher Paul Levitz had nothing but praise when the agreement was made.

Rest in peace Stan.
