First off – I can’t believe I’m the one making this post.

It’s kinda’ weird around here, what with no CRAZY posts from my mental -er- I mean Mentor, Uncle Gus.
-And I totally miss those goofy song lyrics from my other Mentor “SMR” Sather. The whole wacky MWP spirit seems to be missing from TRF this year.

Me and my dad are cookin’ up a new Flashy Rocket for Saturday Night. We plan to bring an extra night rocket or two… hope the weather cooperates this year!

My pal “Doc Jon Flash” and I will be having a RED v BLUE drag race with our Darkstar Jr’s on 3-grain “I” motors. And Mom will probably be flying something…

Enough about me… what’s everybody else flying?

Glad to hear you and the fam are making it out. Yeah, it’s sad that the forum has gone somewhat silent over the years. I look forward to seeing all your flashy rockets and hope to fly a night flight myself. I haven’t flown my Dra-Glo in a few years. Time to dust it off.

I hope to make it, but it would likely only be for a day. Work is very busy, and trying to get away for longer might not be possible right now.
 
Will we see Mr. Gus at MWP?

I’m flying few things- probably the two stager on two I Motors, 4” punisher on L1000 ex motor, 6” v2 on 76/6000 m1600 white ex. Maybe also the 29mm md rocket on a G126-if I can figure out how to get the tracker into it. There was something else too that I can’t remember:)

There’s an expert with a super secret nosecone floating around the forum. He could probably help with the tracker dilemma.

I’m still trying to figure out how to sneak away for a two day trip just to come. Wish I was closer.

Gus "Firestarter" P. will attend MWP. Not sure if he plans on flying anything.

I do know -on Saturday Gus will be leaving the launch a bit early and skipping the banquet and night launch -to attend some old-guy rock concert at the Peoria Civic Center.

Also - Gus has been spending a lot of time at Indiana airports... I got this video of Gus driving his Kitty-Cat or Kiddy-Car (or whatever he calls it) at an airport recently. Pretty entertaining - pay special attention to the right lane at 1:14.

 
Clusters; lots of clusters... And Sparkies... And Night Rockets... And Minimum Diameters... And a drag race.... And a Tap or two....probably a Gizmo...

I'm hoping to get there with the Hangar-11 6" dia. X-15 in tow. Beyond that it is still sketchy; I'll probably spread the love and bring one Wildman, one Mac Performance and one Madcow.
 
Me and Jim are drag racing are MAC Bolts and I plan on flying the MAC Hyper 54 for first time. Might fly some black flys if I get time
 
I'll be flying my two stage 2.6" competitor a couple of times. I430->H160=4000ft, J712->I430=8400ft. I've also got a Blackhawk 38 that'll go up on an I500 to a little under 10k and possibly a J712 to a little under 12k.

I'm working on finishing a 5.5" cluster nuke that'll go on 1x54mm, 3x29mm. Probably central J528 and 3xG138T airstart. That'll be the first cluster launch for me if I can get it done.

Also lots of midpower stuff. My kids come along to the launch and we like to fly small stuff in between the more complicated flights. I'm working on finishing up a 4" V2 with my daughter that'll be blue with green polka dots, or maybe the other way around. That'll fly on Loki H motors.

What are you using for electronics on this? My 2 stage vindicator jr will be on an I500T staging to I55 mellow. I just want all the pieces back safely :)

I've flown it 4 times. 1st flight was nominal, remainder have all had one problem or another. I am pretty sure I have all the bugs worked out now.

Hey, if you get a chance, could you get a video or picture of the Blackhawk 38 flying on the I500? I'm hoping to fly mine on that motor early next year, and I want to see how it does on that motor.

Yes - That is Gus in the video. He's driving his car at the airport. I call it a "kitty-cat" because I don't like using 4-letter words. The real name of his car is _ _ _ _ -Cat
It starts with an "H" and rhymes with "smell". :p

Midwest Power has 2stage flight restrictions that require specific parameters to be met. Please send me a PM and I will go over them with you.

Looking at your setup, you are missing one requirement. Seems like it would be a quick adjustment for you.

Night Launch!

I built a snitch 6 years ago specifically for the MWP 9 night launch, then didn’t make it. I will have to dust it off, and get it ready for this years events.

My wife will attempt to get a photo. It'll be moving pretty quick off the rail. Here's a pic of my 38mm Frenzy blasting off on an I205, if we manage to get a picture of the Blackhawk, this is what it'll look like.

I have a busted ole Snitch somewhere in my Rocket Lab... and lots of extra LED Strip lights... Lippo batteries... hhhmmmmm :p:D:cool:

Yup - really cool idea!!! who knows, maybe we can drag-race Night-Snitches :):):):)
 
A friend of mine is asking if Tim will have any motor deals for MWP. Any thoughts?

Yep, flew it twice.

Flew the Aerotech I500T first, it was outta sight in a second :

8900' feet, never saw it come down but recovered easily with the Eggfinder.

Flew it again on an Loki H160LB, 3700 ft, again never it saw it come down but recovered easily with Eggfinder.
