If you can't find one, I have 1 you can use or extra base station. I have only had 3 days off since LDRS and don't have anything ready so I will not be bringing any rockets this year. Will be there Fri and Sat.
Let me know by wed night and I will pack it.

That's what I thought. A call to Wildman tomorrow would be a good plan.

How are the farmers doing over that way? Any crops still in the fields? Working like crazy around where I live.

Welp, I wanted to attend with my Level 1 cert fresh off the press. But that was not to be, my dreams were dashed with a broken fin on my LOC IV on my Level 1 attempt.

If I bring a working rocket (the LOC IV won't be repaired this season) could I try my Level 1 again? Anything special I need to bring besides my TRA card and a simile?

This is going to be my first high power launch. I have an Eggfinder installed in my rocket... just wondering how the various frequencies are handled... if there is a board that you sign up on or if it's just word of mouth or how that all works. Just want to be somewhat prepared. Thanks guys.

Best thing to do is turn on your tracker before putting the battery in the transmitter. Then you can see if there's a conflicting signal. Normally there isn't a board, but maybe one will make an appearance this year? :)

    Hi Dave,

PM sent. There will be several Prefects and TAPS onsite that can assist you with your certification attempt; myself included. We'll get you certed!!!

    Night Launch

Just thinking out loud...feel free to slap a muzzle on me!

Since the night launch has changed to Friday night (no longer on the heels of the banquet), and since the MWP night launch historically was on the eve of the end of Daylight Savings, and since this year's MWP was moved back two weeks due to the turbulent growing season...so Daylight Savings has already ended, and since it's dark by 5pm...

What does QCRS leadership think of bumping up the window for the night launch a bit? Might be a few degrees warmer, still dark, and allow folks to return to *other activities* (like sleep...yeah right) sooner.

Just a thought...I'll be there regardless. Can't wait!

Admit it- you just want to go to Perkins for dinner at 4pm, and fall asleep on the recliner watching Matlock.

Not sure yet- depends on what I can find in the magical trailer. Would love a J145 skid longburn, but not sure if it would be a fast enough burn at the beginning to keep it stable.

Looking at the thrust curve and some old notes, I think you'd be just fine. Plenty of stability with those big aft sweeping plank fins!

Before you adopted her, Propulsive Poultry had four flights:
Kosdon J480 Fast, Aerotech I284W (twice), and a Sconnie 38-6G J335 White. The first flight had a slight waggle on boost, whereas the last three were very straight. So I think with the dynamics of a turkey body, lower velocity is actually better.

Also I flew a J145 Skid in a 4" Jimbo Jart a while back. Smaller fins and a heavier rocket....it did just fine. 500 Newton spike at startup followed by a tapering 250 Newtons. Should work well!

    Gobble Gobble!

Is there any information on what the food vendor is going to be selling? I'm bringing a non-flying guest and I'm sure she'll ask me what we should bring for food and drinks, lol.

With the cold weather and long drive I am going to have to pass this year. Any way I can get the shirt I ordered mailed to me?

Not sure what the food vendor situation is this year. I do want to apologize that the 4-H Hot Dog Stand from last year will not be returning. My schedule this year, and the schedule for several of my STEM club youth, wasn't going to allow us to do all the footwork to get the hot dog stand together (right now I'll be lucky if I even make it to the launch for a few hours on Saturday, and I only live 45 minutes away...) I hung it out there for the other local 4-H groups, but unfortunately no one picked it up. Kind of bummed about it since I even found a local supplier for the poppy seed buns for the Chicago Dogs! Hopefully we'll be able to work it out for next year if the spot is still available, as it was a great fundraiser for us, everyone that stopped by seemed to enjoy the hot dogs, and all the youth that helped out had a great time watching the launches in between orders!

Step 1 - Set the tx to something other than 915 id 0 (that's the default freq when it's shipped). Pick a different freq and id code other than 0.
Step 2 - Make sure the receiver is set to the correct freq/id.
Step 3 - Turn on the RX or LCD and wait. DON'T TURN ON YOUR TX just yet. You will hear the beeps and see the led on the radio module flash if someone else has a TX on the exact same freq/id. You will also get coordinates so you can track that other person's rocket. In that case, you need to wait for the other flyer to finish flying, or change your TX to a different freq/id.
Step 4 - When you are NOT receiving anything, power up your TX and wait.
Step 5 - Proceed to the RSO only after you start receiving valid coordinates from your TX. May take 5-10 minutes to get GPS lock.
Step 6 - Courteous Egg-Heads remember to power-off the TX as soon as possible after recovering the rocket.

A little nervous about the cold, but I have packed all my warmest clothes and my wife and I are about to hit the road. Planning to stay near Springfield MO with inlaws tonight then heading to the launch site first thing in the AM.Excited to lay eyes on the flying field and take it all in.
Since Tim and Amy drag raced on L1000's at Balls I have had Punisher envy. Finished rectifying that situation this morning and am bringing my own Punisher this time!

Parking is in the field, not roadside. There's a light snow cover that should melt off quickly once the sun comes out. Some nearby fields still have corn, but most are clear. Should be great flying Friday and Saturday, Sunday might be cloudy so get your high fryers early.

    Quick tip
Please enter the site from Country Road 2400 (North). The farmers may be blocking the 2300 (South) side.

Yes, there's a food vendor on the launch site. Did burgers, hot dogs, and Chicago Style Hot Dogs today. Chips and pop.

    I had a Chicago Dog = delicious!

I have no way to know what the menu will be for Sturday and Sunday, but even it its just more dogs and burgers, its good stuff.

    For what its worth.

Just wondering. I heard that the night launch timing did in fact move sooner in the day however the MWP website wasn't updated to reflect the change in the night launch timing. Is the daily open range operation still 9am-5pm? Asking for a friend...
