Has anyone got their L2 with a Loc Goblin? Thinking about a 38mm J350 or J420, both sim just under 4800'. I don't have my finished weight, so it will be less than that.

Just thoughts on a motor that big in that rocket?

I'm pretty sure forum user jd2cylman flew his on a J motor. Build it strong enough, and it should be fine.

Well, actually, the LOC boys were the ones who flew it on a J. 38mm J420 redline I believe. If the winds are favorable, I'll one up them with a K Saturday...:cool:

I just bought a Aerotech 38/380 case to use on mine for my L1 cert most likely a I motor. Then I can go for my L2 after that. Please post what you use and how it went. Good luck on your L2...

From the website, the Goblin can use motors up to K. You should have no problem doing your L2 on that rocket.

My question is, what is your field like? Can you safely fly that light of rocket on a small J and still recover on the field? If that is going to be a problem, then flying it on other L2 motors will also be an issue. You might consider building a rocket for your L2 attempt that can be used for J or K and even L flights at your field. From my way of thinking, it doesn't pay to get a L2 cert if you don't have a rocket you can fly many of the L2 motors in at your home field. But that's just me. Do what you enjoy! It's your hobby.

How that K-bomb flight go?

Great. 3956' and landed about 50' from the pad. The K456DM may not have a lot of poop, but it made my fins flutter pretty good. They stayed on, but cracked the external fillets.

I seen 2 flights at Bong last week on this rocket. 1 on a J reload and 1 on a K reload both worked great.

Actually, both were K flights. Mine was a K456DM and the LOC boys flew their new black 4" Goblin on a K535W DMS. I think they got around 4100'. The LOC boys had no external fillets to crack, but they have monocoat over the fins, so if they flexed a little, it's not visible...
No video of mine unfortunately... It was pretty cool. I don't know if the LOC boys have video of theirs...

I missed both flights I was out on a recovery mission in the bean field. At least it wasn't in the lake. WOOSH is at bong in 2 weeks. Got to get my 1 and done rocket picked out. Hope the temps drop a little.
