I'm sure someone's already found this cure but I've never seen it or heard of it before so I figured I would share with all of you. It's worked 100% of the time since I discovered it a month or so ago.

When you get the hiccups:
  1. Breathe in a full lungful of air.
  2. Without exhaling swallow 2 times.
  3. Exhale sort of slowly through your nose
  4. Hiccups should now be gone!
It might not work for everyone but it's worked every time for me, a person that has never had a single hiccup "remedy" work for him.

For people who get the hiccups at their local watering hole, the ingredients for this cure will be readily available.
I heard about this back in the '80s and got to try it out soon afterwards and can vouch for the good results. Having it published in the New England Journal of Medicine lends it some credibility.
Most of the time, I just breath in and out of a mid-size paper bag to raise my blood CO2; that generally does the trick.

Actually, I just hold my breath for ten to fifteen seconds - it usually works, and if it doesn't, repeat once or twice (doesn't usually take more than once or twice).

This is my cure also, once is all I need. YRMV!

I hold my breath and do exercise (push ups are my choice). That works for me.

Any method will work if you do it long enough.

The bitters method has worked for me, and everyone seems to really like it, since it feels like an "antidote," whereas breath-holding can be a bit anticlimactic.

I have come across a few people who have had hiccups for years, and after checking for other causes (e.g. misplaced cardiac pacemaker lead), there are a few prescription medications that work fairly well. But nothing you'd want to take if you didn't have to. It's impressive how a minor inconvenience can become a major source of stress if it lasts long enough,

I don't think I'd be able to live if I had hiccups for a year...
