Did you think I had forgotten about Bluto? I've been a little reoccupied with launches and failed dual deploy flights, but I'm finally back to it.

I got the motor tubes epoxied to the two forward centering rings. I used a square to align the rings with the notches. 30 minute epoxy was used for the extra setting time, so I could make sure everything was in place before it set.

All this for just one motor mount. I still don't know what I was thinkin'.

I also got the rail button blocks epoxied on the forward and aft centering rings. I'll be using 1515 buttons on Bluto.

I got all the blocks for the tee nuts epoxied onto the aft centering rings, and drilled out the holes.

I pressed in the tee nuts and epoxied them in. That's a lot of tee nuts!

Another of the many mundane tasks. Filling the holes in the forward centering ring that won't be used.

Great work here!:handshake:
I've been following your build quake 2k!

More mundaneness (hey, I just made up a word!). I sanded the rail button blocks so the centering rings would fit in the body tube. And while not necessary (in fact, it'll probably get covered up with paint anyway), I sanded the face of the aft centering ring. I'm anal that way.

Test fit of the motor mount. And speaking of anal, that is one sexy a$$!

I couldn't think of any reason not to, so I decided to plug the forward ends of the 29mm motor tubes. Using a 1-5/16" hole saw, I cut them out of 3/8" plywood, and sized them on the lathe. I sealed the pilot holes with epoxy. I plugged the plugs! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I epoxied the plugs into the motor tubes, but as I was sitting and staring at it, I realized I'd put them in the wrong ends. Doh! Fortunately, the epoxy hadn't completely set, so I was able to pop them out with a long dowel. About gave my poor dog a heart attack when I jumped up to grab the dowel! I got them epoxied into the correct ends, and will sand out the epoxy from the aft ends after the epoxy has completely set.

At least you caught it in time...I'm sure everyone here including me have made same mistake at one point or another...

What a Beast! This thing should make a magazine cover when it goes up!
Too bad we are so far apart, I'd really like to stand next to this rocket, especially when finished!
Oh well, there's always video and pics...

Just a question.....do you ever stop building rockets?
I dont believe he does.
Hes known as the (Rocket Building) "Machine" around here.
I like to call him "Norm" from "This Old House". I mean,he (qquake), has about the same amount of wood working tools.

I'm obsessed. But I suppose there are worse things to be obsessed with. And while I do wear flannel shirts, I still think Norm has me beat. LOL

Well, maybe Norm does have a few more tools.
However,I dont think Norm builds rockets.
So, in my book, you got it all over him.
Nice looking build up to this point.
Oh..have you and paint come to terms?
I havent been on TRF much lately and I see your hating on Norton now.

I bet Norm could build a mean rocket!

I've had a couple paint successes lately, so paint and I have an uneasy truce going. I was having problems with TRF and Chrome, and came to find out it was Norton. I've had problems with Norton in the past, the only reason I was using it this time was because it came free with my Comcast internet. I switched to free AVG, and no more problems. Computer is running faster and not freezing up, too. I hate Norton.

hmm. That would make ya pull your hair out! :bang:

Looking good there friend!
