I've also built models in the past, but it's been decades since I've really done such. Back then I'd be cross-eyed for hours on end making the details perfect! o_O 😋
Here's some pics of one of my better pieces...not the best pics, but I took them recently to show a friend. Some parts may be broken from age...

There are usually a few such models at the contests I attend occasionally. That detail painting is impressive and I can understand the tedious work it entails. Nice job.

Alright! Another pyro guy! Looks like a barge shoot in the pic. Where was this?

That barge show was on Grand Lake Saint Marya in Celina, OH several years ago. Mostly 4", 5" and 6" if I remember correctly with some pontoons rigged on both sides with smaller items and some water cakes.

Beginning Pyro guy here. I'm at the I want to make a 3" ball shell stage. I've made good (hot) BP and some low level stuff but I'm slowly stepping into the next level. Pyro is how I got into HP rocketry. I was watching a Ned Gorski video and John Coker videos started showing up on my feed. I found out that there was a HP group here locally and went all the way down that rabbit hole. No regrets :D

I have way too many hobbies. Every time I walk into the house or garage it's
Squirrel_Attention.jpg
In no particular order, Ham Radio, Vintage Electronics restoration, including Ham radios, more modern electronics (amateur level), long range shooting, hunting, rockets, pyro, learning to TIG weld, photography (large format film, digital, time lapse), guitar, banjo, mandolin, keyboard though not very good at any of them, especially the latter three, astronomy, currently only visual and binocular, my 2000 Landcruiser project, flying (working on my instrument rating), woodworking though not currently active if you don't count fins, 3D printing, Anasazi, Civil War, and Western history Idk... there's probably more but this'll do

Sample of some time lapse work. I need to do more:
Work in progress stuff, Carousel Mountain in Big Bend NP:
Rough cut of the aurora from Shadow Mountain near GTNP:
Quick Lunar eclipse tl:

Probably my favorite restoration. I got this in an estate, it sat in my barn for years. I felt like I owed it to the previous owner to restore it.

Ned is a gateway to some interesting hobbies. He's a member of our pyro club in Indiana too.

The rocket in my picture above is a 3" blue and gold glitter with a bottom shot on a 3/4" whistle motor. It was still more motor than I needed, but I'm not sure if it would lift a 4" cylinder shell to the right height. I might need to make them with 2 breaks and a bottom shot to display the heading around 400' or so.

I'm a big fan of Ned and his site. The people there have been a lot of help. I'm flash powder phobic so I'm careful with what I make. I have a hydraulic star press and plates plus some rocket tooling. I just need to put some effort into using them. I've made cut stars. Baby steps

I collect guns and build AR's. The first pic is of a rifle I finished last week. It's for sale locally. I already sold one to my plumber. The second is a friend of mines.20211102_214346[1377].jpg20211101_004713[1376].jpg20211102_214857[1381].jpg20211102_214943[1380].jpg I took the stock gun and added some goodies. The next is my SBR. It was the second gun I built. The one with the scope and suppressor was my first build. It has an 8 by 32 scope, a 3 lb Timney trigger and will shoot sub MOA. I have about 50 guns I think. Just bought two more last week. Rockets and guns. Both expensive hobbies.

I'm constantly amazed by the talents I see here on TRF and I'm sure there's a lot of other talents not being shown. My eyes are crying for more, so I'm starting a thread to showcase/showoff your other hobbies. Custom cars? Doodles? Crochet? Macaroni necklaces? Whatever it is, here's a good spot to show off for everyone's pleasure! :)
One of my former passions (currently taking a back seat to rocketry)...custom R/C car building...
A Customized Chevy engine model I made for a "50th Anniversary Clodbuster" build called "Gold Digger". This Youtube video has 1.3M hits (seems you get a million hits just by adding beer to a video):
[video=youtube;CiEux1N31vg]
Here's the "Gold Digger" which had the above model engine installed - A working Monster Puller with a lot of custom parts including a etched gold colored plaque and has a full metal gear train...model engine was also made to shake as it speeds up and synced with the speed control. Won RCCA (RC Car Action) Ride of the Month and was 2nd or 3rd place for 2007 Ride of the year (Rock crawlers were big that year).
file.php

Another RC vehicle I designed and created...Full Metal Maxx/"Gorilla Warfare"...my own designed tank tracks and ended up about 95% metal (including the body, tracks and sprockets) and has a titanium tranny and brushless motor. Seems a major RC car parts company may have copied the track design a few years later since their product looks similar. My vehicle made it to 2008 RCCA Ride of the Month, but don't recall if it was a finalist for the year.

GWS024.jpg

I really enjoyed the end results and most of the build; however custom projects like these become all-consuming and I found myself thinking almost 24/7 about a bumper or how to make something work for over a year. Not for those who are not strong-willed.
Come on people, let's see whatcha got! :)
BTW - I also started this thread since I misunderstood the topic of another "show off your hobby" thread and already wrote about my other hobby, so why waste all that time I spent on a nice post? 😉

Found some more pictures. Theses are pre-health loss hobbies:

Aviation is my main passion, and my primary hobby is flying. In addition to building and flying rockets, I'm involved with RC aircraft and cars, plastic modeling, and balsa modeling (think Guillows). I also do woodworking, and single & dual line kite flying from time to time (I needed windy-weather hobbies for when the others were grounded!)

Spit,

Nice aircraft photo's. But my curiosity is getting the better of me, whats the crib photo?
Did you make it?

Tell me more about the Mars Lander on the top left? From a kit?

It started out as a clone, but I finished it up with the Semroc wraps.

Its retired after many flights, I have 2 semroc kits still to build build.

There is a build thread on it here from years ago, along with the other versions of the ML I have built.

I was wondering who made that size of Mars Lander.? That is one of the possible kits that I would like to put together but I just don't want the real small one. I went to the Tango Papa site that was advertised in Sport Rocketry magazine a few years ago, but it's not mentioned anywhere that I could find. it was a 1.6X version. What scale is yours?
