Ok... I'm willing to bet that everyone here has said "I'll Be Back" in a reference to Arnold's line in The Terminator...
<<snip>>
In my humble abode, the spousal unit and I have a twist on that...

One of us will say "I'll be Bach", and the other responds with "I'll be Beethoven!"

If one of us says "I'll be Bach", the other says "You won't find me; I'll by Haydn."

But then, we also keep track of groceries on the Chopin Liszt.

Badgers? We don't need no stinking badgers!
You took the box. Let’s see what’s in the box!
(Pause for reveal)
Nothing! Absolutely nothing!!
(Turns to look at Mrs. Weaver)
Stupid!!! You’re so stupid!!!

Didn't Beanie and Cecil used to come on the Checkers and Pogo show?
It was a cartoon, don't know if Checkers and Pogo had it on their show.
Mike, did you live in Hawaii for a spell? Didn't think any one outside the state knew about Checkers and Pogo.

To get this derailed thread back on track......

“OK, you can be Gus”

(For extra points, explain why that is relevant, for those who forgot or never saw it)

Sure did! My Dad was a Marine officer and was stationed at Camp Smith after he returned from Viet Nam. We lived in Pearl City from '67 - '72, or thereabouts.

Checkers and Pogo was one of my favorite shows as a kid. They showed several different cartoons, seems to me that Beanie and Cecil was one of them.

A bunch of my friends and I were in the crowd of kids on the Checkers and Pogo show for someone's birthday once. Great fun for a second grader!

While I lived in Oahu from 1972-1975, I think I was too young to watch the show, because I have zero memories of Checkers and Pogo. For what it's worth, my first language was Hawaiian Pidgin. I had to return to the mainland to learn how to talk like a native Oregonian.

In the heat of battle, my father wove a tapestry of obscenity that as far as we know, is still hanging in space over lake Michigan.

Fraa-jeel-aay! Huh! It must be Italian!

He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny.

I remember the "Very Merry Unbirthday " song.
They would ask a kid if today is not their birthday. When the kid said yes they would sing the song.
Whenever I think of that now I can't get that song out of my head for the rest of the day.

I've used all of these so far this week.

"Questions, questions, too many questions." Aughra, in The Dark Crystal

"Okay, Big, I dig." Itchy Brother to Biggy Rat in Good King Leonardo

"First you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women". Scarface, of course

We serve stiff drinks for people who want to get drunk fast. It's a Wonderful Life (Montoni's)
