decided NOT to walk the dog this morning.. -20°C.. Brrrr!!!!
WOW, that's exactly why I moved South back in 1993, it was the worst financial disaster I'll ever incur, but when I have days in the middle of winter and go outside in a cloudless sky in my T-shirt and it's 72 degrees, it was the best decision I ever made.

and I envy you for being able to surf-fish all year! 9 or 12-weight fly rod & some shrimp or crab flies.. (Or is that just an excuse to stand on the beach & look at bikinis?!!)

"Do you go ice fishing?"
"No, it's hard to cast & hit that little hole.."

Made a litre of ice cream flavoured with some of those Ladyfinger bananas I showed the other day. That tastes nice!
OK, now here's what you've got to do next.

Take half that litre. Add about 1 or 2 ml of good vanilla extract and a pinch of ground nutmeg. (What's metric for "a pinch"?) Then add half litre of eggs and egg yolks, equal parts by number. Pour that into a blind baked pie shell, then bake again to set the custard.

Let stand to cool and then devour before anybody else gets wind of what you're doing. 😁

Got a new portable Oxygenator, Trilogy breathing machine for sleeping, and a new humidifier. Hopefully this will help me breathe and keep my blood oxygen levels up while sleeping. Wife put a smile on my face that would take 3 Morticians to get off. Spent too much time on the internet as usual.

played WoW in the hopes to unlock their new allied races.. Epic failure on Blizzards part; vague & hard to follow the required quest chain..

Went out to my car (RAV4 2010) intending to go Krogering. Went back inside, told Geniece I was taking her car. (her Civic parks in the garage while the RAV4 is outside) Too much ice on the RAV's windows and it's durn hard to scrape off. Gonna let the sun de-ice it, but that may not work as today's high is supposed to be right around freezing.

COVID can’t stop sledding! There’s a 2-3 block long hill a few minutes walk away so we took advantage of the snow.

No, I'm in central Okla. Sometimes it *feels* like the end of the world...
I thought there was another regular poster other than OverTheTop from Down Under. But I am frequently mistaken.
I actually can ship to OK. But shipping alcohol is worse than shipping rocket motors. At least there are services that help - but it ain’t cheap.

Did some walking and sledding this morning. On the side streets, I think we saw more cross-country skiers using the road than cars.

Imagine some lovely mountains on the other side of Puget Sound, here obscured by snow.

It’s supposed to turn to rain and start melting any time now.

Cut holes in model locomotive roofs so as to model various combinations of having the vents open.
Involved drilling, carving, filing. Then making sheet styrene representations of the hatch covers.
Next stage will be modeling open cab front doors on one or two; the probably 40 year old molds offer NO representation of the cab front doors.

I would really like the Southern Pacific one, the one in light grey Testor's Acryl primer, at least, to have the cab doors open.

I have 2 books with HO scale dimensioned drawings of these USRA 0-6-0 locomotives; one book from 1947 and one from 1960, reprinted 1984.

Those doors are about 15 inches wide by about 4 feet high.
Roughly 4mm and a fraction wide by about 13mm and a fraction high in HO scale, 1/87 scale.

Can see building them from 3 layer sandwich of sheet styrene; exterior framing, clear, interior framing
Am I up for doing that with my health the way it is?

Which also affects adding all the, literal, bells and whistles,

A real USRA 0-6-0 with engineer's cab door open, on a turntable in Washington, DC, 1923,

Picture enlarges to pretty good sized.
It also shows other details the models do not have, such as the rods and levers to work the sand domes.
Speaking of details, is that guy standing the gangway, who I presume is the fireman, wearing a bow tie

That's what's been happening here in the sub-freezing and the snow.

Heh, my brother lives in Seattle and just sent me photos of someone sledding by his house! It looks like quite the winter wonderland out there. He mentioned that the only roads that are getting plowed are the major through ways and routes for ambulances to the hospitals.

That’s how we roll here. We don’t get enough snow to make it worth investing in a big snowplow fleet. By Tuesday or Wednesday it will all have melted out.

Oh, well. I don't actually drink much (can't remember last time I had more than a sip), but cider is one thing I enjoy. Have one for me!

Spent hours trying to figure out where exactly the cold water line to my kitchen sink is FROZEN! I think I know where the freeze is, but I can’t get to it without ripping out one of my kitchen cabinets, and doing some other “modifications”. The good news, as it could be anyway, is that I think the freeze up is in a straight section of pex, so there is hope it won’t burst...I guess I’ll find out in 4 days when we get over freezing.

I give this Valentine’s Day 1 star, would not recommend.

Freezing pipes are no joke. Broken pipes less so. Any way you can get heat to the frozen area? Blow dryer?

Tried for hours. Just blocked unless I want to really tear into things. It is 11 degrees F here, with a predicted overnight low of 7...typically doesn’t do that here. Last time in single digits was 1996. Houses aren’t really built or remodeled (what is getting me now) with this in mind.

I’m just left with praying to the pex gods that they show mercy.
